Yeah, I keep seeing references to this mythical procedure too. There's nothing about it in the manual.
Because it is known to decrease the life of lithium ion batteries
calibrating the battery is simply this
plug phone in and charge to 100%
unplug and let drop to 99%
plug phone in and charge to 100%
unplug phone and turn it off
plug phone in and charge to 100%
unplug phone and wait 5 minutes
plug phone in and charge to 100%
repeat until the time it takes to reach 100% is minimal
per those that have electrical engineer experience, this is bad for these batteries, as well is letting them drain completely and recharging them. The "sweet spot for charging is between 35-80%" supposedly.
now me being the rebel that I am...I charge the phone when it's dead, and have done the calibration and have yet to see an ill effect on this phone or others.
The top battery drainers:
-Wifi
WHEN NOT CONNECTED TO A WIFI HOTSPOT the wording above is a little misleading, your battery is actually going to be twice as long while connected to wifi.. If you are not connected, the wifi radio searches for a spot to connect to every 30-90 seconds...the carriers did this. They want you connecting to wifi whenever possible.
-GPS when constantly web browsing with location sharing turned on, and ONLY in that situation
-Social media apps and syncing apps
-The screen on these phones..use auto brightness
that being said, I turn wifi off automatically
a. by schedule with timmeriffic
b. by gps coordinates with auto wifi enabler
I sync facebook and google
I actually uninstalled juice defender because it seemed to do more harm than good (connections not coming back on, battery drain actually increased)
I try not to discuss my battery life because it is biased, I am rooted running custom pretty much everything lol, and get 20+ hours with heavy usage
for more information on the battery tech just look up

all of the above are in the links I posted in the other thread btw
I am working on a skyrocket specific battery thread but I am swamped right now
