best browser?

For general browsing the stock browser is fine but for content rich sites I use Puffin, supports more HTML 5 features and also supports flash.

On Peacekeepper browser benchmark Chrome/Stock score around 500-600, Puffin scores over 3000.

Is it very fluid and not prone to crashing? It sounds really good actually.

It's not always the smoothest but then again with flash enabled it's dealing with allot more, but I've never seen it crash and it handles full screen flash perfectly once you figure out how to use it.

Also has on screen gamepad for flash games and on screen trackpad.

BUT, it's not free. There's a limited free version so check it out.

Hmmm okay. I would love to try it out.

Simply download puffin web browser from the store. It is very quick and supports all type of flash. Use my referal code "mbehpbhmcgggb" for flash extention and enjoy. It is far better than opra, firefox, chrome.

I used to use the stock browser, but hated that it dimmed the screen (even though it was on full brightness) which was ok indoors, but outdoors I couldn't see anything! Changed to Chrome and I love it!

Boat, UC, Dolphin, and many other Android browsers...be careful because they have intrusive permissions and shoddy "privacy" policies. Even if you are not concerned with privacy--and you should be--spying wastes battery power, bandwidth, and CPU cycles.

PRIVACY WARNING: Dolphin's collection of your browsing history. They now encrypt the data that they phone home so there is no way to know what they are collecting.

It's more than likely phoning home to Beijing:

I like Naked Browser. It has a paid or "pro" version, but the basic version works just fine. In fact, I bought the paid version and kinda regret it.

I suspect most or all free browsers out of China are secretly funded by the Chinese government for surveillance and information mining purpose.

BUT

we can't blame China because the US government has been doing the exact same thing to all other countries and foreigners in the world (in addition to US citizens) while hypocritically criticizing China for spying, while the US government repeatedly announce on TV and in the news that only Americans are entitled to "constitutional protection" and privacy, but screw everyone else because Americans think it's perfectly alright for America to spy on other "lesser" people (those "foreigners" living in other countries) and trample on other people's rights and privacy, (and Americans wonder why everyone else hates America? I think the US government has just given them the perfect reasons to be anti-America by repeatedly talk about how only Americans can be assured that their rights and privacy are protected deserve privacy, but then casually admitting that and it's okay to spy on everyone else in every other country in the world. On TV and in the news. For everyone to see.)

At least China gives us free apps in return for spying on us. The US government doesn't give us shit for mining and collecting our data - they just take and lie and chastise other people for doing the same thing.

Well actually they allowed everybody else to use GPS. Those are US Military satellites. Lol.

There might be some nefarious purposes and government funding behind all these free Chinese browsers. The Beijing government does have access to all data that's stored on-line and phoned home in the PRC. It's also probably to do with that China is by far the world's largest Android market, there's more Android devices here than any other country in the world. It's not just browsers, many other apps and games are developed here as well, plus a lot of piracy as well. Google has very little to do with what happens with Android here.

The Swedish Opera browser has been very successful in China. Many Chinese devices come with it as the default browser, and Opera operates an app store as well.

I'm willing to bet that many other off-beat browsers are Chinese, like Maxthon and Naked.

I am Naked Browser's developer. I am not Chinese and have never been to China, not that there's anything wrong with that by itself.

I am a solo developer living in the United States and I made Naked Browser for myself but decided to share it for free. It does not spy or monitor in any way and does not even have ads.

You can read more about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929663

What do you regret? The description for Naked Browser Pro lists all of the differences from the free version and I am still working on it.

I love Naked Browser. I keep trying other ones and then going back to Naked. I bought the pro version and don't regret it at all. True, I don't use a lot of the pro features, but it wasn't that expensive, and I believe in supporting good developers.

One of my few gripes with Naked back in the day (and with all Android browsers) was that you couldn't have per-site user agent identifier... and now you can.

Next on my wishlist would be a way to keep the tab and location bars persistent. My screen is big enough that I don't need them constantly disappearing.

Love the Naked browser, though!

I tried naked browser but i don't like it's interface.

I want to add also (to the others already mentioned) baidu browser. It's getting improved on every update and i think that in the newest phone models or tablets it should be working very fine.

I did a test to see how fast Naked opens pages, compared to Dolphin 10 (supposedly fast)... and Naked is 2-3X faster on most pages. All the basic functions are there, and you can just create an html page that opens when you click your browser icon, pretty much all the ui I use. Here's what I see when I hit my browser icon (basically exported FF bookmarks tweaked a little):

I don't think there's a trial version.

There's the free version:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5mZXZkZXYubmFrZWRicm93c2VyIl0.

And then the paid version:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wxLDEsImNvbS5mZXZkZXYubmFrZWRicm93c2VycHJvIl0.

If you want to try the paid version, I think the standard Google Play refund rules apply. What is it now--15 minutes?

Yeah 15 mins which is too short for a core app like a launcher imo. thanks man. On play store i could only find the payed version. Ill check the link out now

Funny thing is that it used to be available in the UK from the Play Store. I know because I installed it, and used to get updates.

Now if I follow that link on my old phone I can update, but if I search or look in my app list on the Play Store app it shows nothing. And if I follow the Play Store link on my new phone it tells me the free version is incompatible rather than unavailable, but it works fine when installed from the dev's site.

Maybe the inconsistency between what Funky sees and what I do is that device check precedes county, but that's a little surprising (and the country thing is recent, and it's not really incompatible). Or maybe it's not available in Scotland? ;)
