Best Buy Details

After following these forums for a few weeks now I can honestly say the main reason why this phone was delayed, truly, was the iPhone 4. I am willing to believe that Apple put something in their contract with Verizon that said if their phone sales weren't where they needed to be they had the right to request all new handset launches delayed for "X" amount of time. I highly doubt that there are all these crazy issues or conspiracy theories people are talking about.

Pure speculation and very unlikely in my evaluation. A company like Verizon must deal with a whole variety of phone manufacturers. Sure they courted Apple but they can not let Apple run their company nor dictate launch rules. If there was anything it was 2 weeks max. Furthermore see these news stories.

Verizon CEO refutes claims of low iPhone sales.

Verizon iPhone Preorder Sales Estimate: 500,000 iPhones.

+1

And anything giving people an ATT alternative is a good thing in my book (yeah - can't stand ATT).

I wonder if that "other LTE" device in the first article isn't the Thunderbolt.

FWIW, I just moderated a real-life dispute. Daughter called to tell me she just got the Verizon iPhone, son-in-law is NOT happy she didn't go Android.

Eah, to each their own, I say. :D

if this phone seriously stays at the pricepoint of $299 im gonna have to wait till it comes down in price. thats just too much for a phone on contract. or maybe look at online retailers like wirefly.

be careful with wirefly. Lots of little words by the *.
Can't move to another line, make you purchase X amount of text messages, etc. Read the fine print.

So what day does everyone think we will have it in hands this week

I know Verizon likes to release phones on Thursdays, but I feel like, at this point, they just want the thing out ASAP so people stop b!***ing. That being said, it sounds like they will give us an announcement tomorrow and start selling them as soon as they arrive in stores which could be as early as tomorrow since some stores claim to have them in. Not at all counting on it though. In fact, I am not even counting on this week tbh.

My money still stays on March 3rd. BMX...the man himself...mentioned that it was going to be released this week.

Went to BB and was told by 2 managers that the price will be $299 pre-order or not and no free buy back. Tried to argue that they were pulling a price bait-and-switch by taking my $50 when the phone was $250 then raising the price but it didn't help. So now I guess I will contact customer relations and try to get help there, or just buy from Verizon and return the $50 dollar card which the manager did say he could do.

Call 1-888-237-8289 and ask to talk to someone in Best Buy mobile and tell them it has to do with the "Buy Back" program. Once connected tell them you story and ask to talk to consumer relations. Then tell C.R your problem and they will hook you up. I encourage everyone to do this and show BB they can't treat us this way. (they can help you with the Buy Back, not sure about the price change. They do price match though)
Good Luck!

Did he specifically say this week or are you referring to the tweet about "Thunderbolt's are go" ?

He said specifically, not this week. Thats why we think it is this week lol.

"@black_man_x Sorry all.. that tweet was meant to be sent via DM.. so ignore it.. not like the device is launching this week or anything #sneaky?"

Agh, that sucks. I'll be receiving a $70 gift card from customer relations if the free buyback isn't honored but paying $50 more is still gonna suck. In the end, I'll still get more bang for my buck then going through Verizon since they don't have a buyback promotion but it's not like I'm getting $70 in cash either.

And I was told that Best Buy will not price match Verizon, they will price match other retailers. But...Best Buy has an exclusive :(

If they don't price match I'll return it after I get my 70.00 gift card. 50.00 for 120.00 in BB gift card is O.K with me.:D
