Best Buy Details

Yeah, looks like signs are pointing to a no-show this week. Given that they are ready to go (via BMX), it takes time for them to actually get out. So I think an announcement next week, maybe Tuesday, with a release that same week on Thursday?

As much as I want this phone to come out, I just ran into some financial snags. So it looks like I would be waiting anyway. But for everyone else's sake, I hope it hits ASAP!

Hi yall! I've been reading this thread since it started. First off, I'm still deciding between the iphone and TB. Up until today, I have not played with either. This morning we (my kids and I) went to BB to get Bambi. The store was pretty empty and so decided to walk on over to the phones. I was trying to find the Xoom to check it out but couldn't so I saw the iphone and boy, is that a sweet little phone. My heart melted just a little wanting to take it home with me. I asked the associate about the TB and when they are getting them in and he told me that they are only getting enough to cover the pre-orders and that's it. He ask if I wanted to pre-order and told him no, not yet, I still want to hear real world reviews on it. I though it was weird that they were basically "sold out" of the phones before it's even out (and he didn't know when they were getting them). Oh well. Then I decide to go the check out the ipads and of course my 3 yr old just fell in love with it! She's practically owns my ipod touch so the ipad was a piece of cake for her. So my BB was no help what-so-ever in this never ending TB saga.

Last time I checked it was, but trust me, I'll check again tonight

Hey Jay, I had att for around 8 days from bestbuy before I switched to verizon on the 21st. Since I switched providers my 30 days start on the day I purchased verizon phone right? I dont want them to say oh you had att a week before that and thats when your return date started.

I'm guessing he's telling you that they will only cover pre-orders just to get you to put the money down and lock you in. If they were "sold-out" why would he be telling you to preorder? Will the warehouse be using the preorder numbers to determine how many devices to ship? If they do, they will be losing a lot of business to Verizon stores.

Completely off topic but, if Verizon doesn't do this to iPhone owners, i'm sure alot of customers will leave big red for another carrier that fairly charges (ie: not giving a certain brand special pricing treatment)

BUT of course this could give them an opportunity to give early adopters of the ThunderBolt the chance to get grandfathered in until there next contract extension.

Verizon Wireless will move to tiered data plans this summer | BGR
Not jiving with how they word it though... iphones should not get special treatment, they hog more data than us Android users (Apple has there hand in that i bet, because AT&T still offers unlimited data for iPhones too)

If that goes through, I will not be continuing with Verizon. It's hard enough worrying about how many text messages I've sent, but to have to keep track of data that I've used is pretty ridiculous.

Why of course.

One for where I put my phone at night.

One for work.

One for....ok maybe only 2. Needs to accommodate a case, which is highly unlikely.

Trying to short change the rest of us are ya?? If I can't get a dock, I'm blaming you. ;) LOL

I agree. If I decide to get the TB (or any phone), I will be going through VZW anyway. It's funny that as soon as we finished talking about the TB, I started playing with the iphone and the associate just walked away like he didn't want to talk about it (the iphone).

to get us back on topic (stay on target)

Jay---
assuming the Truck delivers them (for whatever reason) at 10am on Fraptuous Day,
how long does it take to scan into inventory & get pushed to the floor for sale?

I thought it was Junumemberuary. what did you hear that I didn't? lol
I think it was halfway covered. Jay said if there is no street date, they will go ahead and sell.

Added: HaHaHa! First post, new page! <<<<< I'm SO childish. lol
Added: Good grief, I can't even read properly. Disregard my ramblings. lol

They wouldn't just go right for the phones if they come on the normal truck, so it could be late afternoon.

If it comes on FedEx, noon?

i'm more inquisitive/questioning how long your normal check-in process takes.

@ Target, it was about an hour for regular fed-ex/ups deliveries mid-day, so people would periodically come back to check if we had inventory of an item that was usually released on Tuesdays once they figured out when we were pushing those items to the floor on tubs.

so if you got a delivery, mid-day, at noon--how long does your check in process take until those phones hit the floor for sale? couple of hours or 30 min?

scenario: 10 am FedEx shows up with nothing but TB's, you guys have 'em out by 11? or would that particular inventory need to be approved by someone to be sold (other than Logistics/Receiving)

update: ah, i'm an idiot. you answered. sorry

lmao...now we're really starting to speculate. "how long will it take the delivery truck driver to drive to a BB if he makes his route starting at 5:00am and hits rush hour traffic with a head-wind at 10 MPH?"

It is 30 days from the day you set up with the new carrier. So, if you had AT&T, had it for 8 days, returned it, and went with Verizon the same day you now have 30 days from that point. Trust me, I thought about this angle also (porting out to another carrier every 15 or 30 days or whatever) - then I was like dude that's silly LOL - I'm just going to keep signing up, and returning, and signing up lol

hahaha, this could totally be one of those annoying equations! you're right.

variables=
BB logistics speed
Fed Ex driver (coffee, no coffee)
weather
traffic

oh best buy. figure this equation into your expected StreetDate and you'll win me back.

Well now that depends, is the head wind 10 MPH or is the truck driving 10 MPH? What color is the truck? Driver male or female? What color are the socks of the man driving behind the truck? lol :D
