Best Buy Mobile employee here! Feel free to ask me questions :)

5, but I expect more today. Same thing happened with the EVO (we got two shipments before launch).

Some stores might get them all on wednesday though, instead of the two, so I wouldn't be surprised if they said they had none.

Were those 5 an allocation of your pre-orders?

Aookay I'm very confused here:

The local best buy where I pre ordered (boston) said that they cannot do 1 yr contracts of any sort; and the computer does not allow the option of such. Is this a regional thing or were they giving me foobar ?
--
Along the same line they told me that they decided NOT to call folks who had pre ordered but they have the phones.

Aookay, just want to verify...full MSRP at BB is the $699 right?

I think my other fellow BBYM employee said that after his manager checked, but I have yet to find the SKU to confirm. And since it still doesn't show the pricing for the 2 year and 1 year in our register, I can't confirm it's not a placeholder.

Not saying he's wrong, I just myself can't confirm it.

Will check into this on Wednesday.

Sorry, yesterday I was at work and swamped, but YES, the price is $699 and 1yr is $399. I rang them up and thats what it came up as

This is odd considering myself and screenamesucks both have rung it up for a 1 year contract, hmm.

That second part is weird, but I can understand if they didn't have a lot of preorders.

Question: I got a phone for verizon in best buy and I'm wondering if best buy could add my line onto a new contract different name with droidx for a family plan. That possible?

We can add lines to family plans at Best Buy, you just have to be the account holder, or have them with you.

Hope that helps!

This gets better; I called again to talk to the manager to confirm the 1yr thing (he wasn't in). The fellow I chatted with confirmed they don't do 1 yr contracts; but he also told met he phones had NOT arrived and they WOULD be calling us. Hum.... (the reason this is an issue for me is not because i'm hyper to get the phone but because I'm leaving town for 2 weeks friday morning and wanted the phone to read email while traveling).

I hope the first guy you talked to wasn't the manager.

So, I have my 50 dollar gift card that I can apply towards the X.....it's just 150 I have to fork over if I use the card, correct? Do I pay the activation fee tomorrow or is that on the first bill?

Should not be a regional thing, all Best Buy's have the same system. They just don't seem to wanna do 1yr's for some reason. It could be that they just don't know they can. I didn't for awhile. When it comes to verizon we can do 1yr's. Its in our mobile signage documents, its in the register, it even says on the freaking price tags. They might think they don't get credit for 1yr, but I was told its all the same regardless of what contract term you choose.

so it is confirmed that full retail is $699? I thought phones were more in the $499-$599 range......

Yes, it is $699, trust me, we were shocked as well. We thought it would be $599 like the others, but it isn't. That price could go down eventually though, but right now it is $699

I personally think it's better, but it's different for each person. Some people will get more of a benefit out of it than others.

I'm not here to make that decision for you, you are :)

For me, I would rather use a backup phone for a few weeks while they fix it, then have to pay that deductable each time. Because paying extra money once your phone breaks, sucks.

what deductable do you pay for a warranty replacement at verizon? didn't think there was one, and they give you a phone that day so you don't have to wait or use a backup phone. Or are we talking strictly if you break your phone?

You just pay for the phone, everything else is on the first bill. So yes, you will pay the $150 unless you get accessories of course

If its a warranty issue, you shouldn't have to pay the deductible. Best Buy also has the option to replace the phone if its a warranty issue. Most people will tell you that you have to go to the Carrier store after 30 days, but it is actually possible to do a warranty exchange in BB in most cases. Phone has to show no signs of wear, damage, etc...

After a year it's 50 bucks. At least, that is what I have had to pay in the past.

In instances with the Verizon insurance, they do give you a new one right there, but it's refurbrished (which sucks if it's a manufactuers fault, and you have had the phone for only a few months), and it can have physical problems. When I did this for my original Droid, there were a few keys that were peeling up on it. =/

I have a higher chance of breaking my phone than anything. I usually have good luck with phones, but my only concern is dropping it and it ceasing to function.

Cool, thank you! I spent a little too much going out with my girl and her best friend for his birthday....lol so I'm trying to make sure I'm good :p

I just wanted to say thanks for coming into the thread and helping out.

One man can only do so much.

Here is to hoping you guys get your phones in today! :)
