I have one of these and it is pretty good. Kind of a silicone type case. If I hadn't gone to the OtterBox, this is the case I would be using. Available in many colors and designs. Lots on eBay also. Pretty cheap.

Ive used a body glove for the hero, and instinct dropped many times without a problem. Ordered the optimus v and body glove on tuesday they arrived on thursday. The only case I recommend to my friends!!

I have to concur; these are really good, cheap protection, and I like the way it feels in my hand. Doesn't get sticky like the thicker silicone. When I go out I put the phone w/the tpu skin in a Golla bag (a discontinued design that I also got really cheap on eBay).

Are these what you mean? Some of the ones I looked at are pretty nice and will fit the Optimus S... so the OpV would fit also I think.

Yep, exactly. This one: Golla Duo Pouch - Android Golla Bags - Android Central Store looks to be the closest in style/dimensions to my discontinued one (mine just has stripes, tho, no flowery stuff). The phone fits in there nice and snug with the TPU skin on; anything thicker than that you might be able to jam in there, but I can't say for sure. Check on eBay- I got mine for $7 and the seller threw in a second one free (!) that I gave to my Mom. It was a while ago, but there are probably some good deals still.

I decided to go with Body Glove and Skinomi for protection on my Optimus V. Amazon had the Body Glove case with optional belt clip for a little over $13, and I've had it installed this week and love it! Feels very rugged and grippy but not too grippy... don't have any problems slipping it in and out of my pocket. Definitely adds some thickness to the phone but not enough for me to feel like it's a giant brick, just a little added padding. I went without the belt clip so that helps with the thickness, too. I also purchased the Skinomi screen protector for $9 through Amazon. Took a few tries to get it situated correctly, but the wet installation made it easy to reposition without too much trouble. Had a few tiny bubbles for about a day after install, but they dissolved and now it looks like it's not even there unless you look really closely to see the edge of the protector. All in all, I feel safe using this phone out in the open now!

For the people who have owned a Snap on case like the Body glove. With repeated use, does it wear the edges of the phone down like paint and surface wise? The hard clip on system seemed to do that to my old phone.

I bought a rocketfish slip-on, a rocketfish car-charger and an invisible shield screen protector for 50 bucks at bestbuy. Love em all, especially the case and screen-protector. I actually had my phone on my workbench and had a solder bubble burst and got some on my screen but the screen-protector saved it.

Interesting thread; it appears the two cases most prevalent are the OtterBox and Body Glove. Anybody have the 60 sec rundown of each case? What about screen protectors? and the proximity sensor?

Lastly, I forsee myself eventually using a cradle like I did for my Palm TX. Do either of the above cases create problems with a cradle? Are there any cradles already availible? Alarm clock docking stations?

Thanks in advance, and I'll keep reading.

Not sure about using cradles with the cases on, but check this thread.

I own both the Body Glove and OtterBox cases. My preference would have to be the Body Glove. When I originally bought the OtterBox case, I didn't like their huge logo on the back. I also found that the plastic housing that fits over the silicone wrap would scratch really easily. Not to mention, the silicone attracts any dust, lint, or debris in your pocket like a magnet.

The reason I decided to try the Body Glove was that after repeatedly using the headjack on my phone, I noticed the little plug on the OtterBox that went into the port wouldn't stick in there as good anymore. I also found that the more you take the case off to access the battery, the silicone wrap isn't as snug anymore, either. This is most noticed below the buttons. When I first installed the OtterBox, the silicone was flush with the surface of my phone. Eventually, the silicone developed an arc in that area. This allowed for a lot of dust to get in underneath the case.

The Body Glove is solid. It will protect just as well as the OtterBox. I also like the fact that's it's more heavy, sturdy, and rugged. Not to mention the feel is so much better. I especially like how the pattern on the case matches your favorite carbon fiber wallpaper perfectly.

I could have gotten over the logo and scratched case with the OtterBox, but the stretchy silicone that seemingly wears out in a matter of months made me make the switch.

Make no mistakes, the OtterBox is a good case, but there is nothing you'll find on it that protects better than the Body Glove. Worried about dust under your screen? So was I. I was certain after I made the switch that after carrying my phone around in my pocket for a day or two without the OtterBox (which has a plug to protect the charging port - allegedly where people say dust is entering and going underneath the screen) that there would be at least a few dust particles there that I might or might not be able to live with. Well, after using the Glove for at least a month straight now carrying it in my pocket every day, I can't find nothing under my screen.

Save a few bucks and go with the Body Glove. :)

I wanted an Otterbox, but I didn't want to pay tooo much for a cover for my cheap phone. I settled on a fishbone case from ebay for $ 12.00 shipped. It has a soft gel skin, with a hard skeleton frame that has hard corners for protection. No, I didn't get a purple one, I got all black. So far so good.

Last month, I bought the body glove off Amazon.com ....and also picked up some screen covers (5 for 1 cents...no shipping charge). I got the screen covers from the same store that sells the Body Glove. Since it wasn't a big investment I decided to try the BG first.

I removed the belt clip because I just carry my phone in the pocket of my cargo shorts. I carry it by itself in the pocket with the screen facing toward my leg. No dust ...no scratches on the screen....easy to slide in and out of my pocket...plus I like the grippy feel without it being sticky...plus it's easier to hold while using the camera. The phone slipped off my bed onto the wood floor without any damage so I figure the Body Glove paid for itself. The inexpensive screen covers work fine....I clean the screen/cover by wiping it on my t-shirt and it doesn't leave a scratch.

First of all I would like to thank you guys for this informative thread shout out to the people discussing the otter case with a leather belt case combination. I have recently purchased both of these and expect them at my door in a week or so. When they arrive I'll post a quick review.

I currently have the body glove and kick stand case and I have several issues with this case. One being that the hard edges did some wear and tear to the silver exterior of the phone, two the grip on the case is beginning to peel off, three on the back of the case there a protruding body glove logo which prevents the grip on the back to catch, four the belt clip has the phone facing outwards which I thought was fine until I was putting my bike into the car and I dinged my phone leaving a big gash thankfully I had the default screen protector on.

It is very late and this post is very "rough" but to those interested in getting the body glove I haven't yet received my otter case but the otter case covers the volume buttons preventing grime and making them easier to press.

Also thanks to the person who linked those cheap screen protectors I picked some of those up on amazon after learning my lesson.

I have had the body glove case (not using the clip) and a Skinomi screen protector on my phone for a few months. I have dropped the phone a couple of times and the case popped off but the phone was intact and the battery cover did not pop off. I like the feel in general but it does seem to irritate my little finger - because of the way I hold the phone I guess. I have also had the outer grip layer come loose in three different spots and I have super glued these back in place. I might look at this Otter case if/when I need a replacement but so far the minor problems are not enough for me to ditch this case. My wife also has the same setup and she has not had any of the problems I have mentioned. Oh, and neither one of us has seen any dust under the screen. She carries her phone in her purse and I carry mine in my front pocket.

I carry mine in a belt case. I haven't yet put a screen protector on it, but I do need to find a skin so it doesn't fly apart should I happen to drop it.

You could use the screen protector that came with the phone if you still have it. But I would recommend NOT using the belt clip until you have a screen protector. The way the belt clip is designed the screen is facing outwards and you might bump into something and scratch the phone like I did thankfully I had the stock screen protector that came with the phone.

Today I received my Otterbox in the mail and the my initial assessment is that the Otterbox is a superior case compared to the body glove. There are some issues that I can for see arising with the Otterbox but they would be less then the issues I had with the Body Glove case.

I might post a video review later of the two cases I tried to do an unboxing but it was rough since this is the first video I have ever tried to do.

I'm also waiting for the leather case that I ordered to come in. Hopefully the Otterbox fits in side I'll update you guys when it arrives.

Mine didn't seem to have one. I got 5 on ebay for $2.00

In Using the fishbone case makes sliding mine into the leather case a bit a chore.
I got this "advertised as classic leather" and to the best of my knowledge is real leather for a pretty fair price with free shipping.

I recommend Skinomi. I haven't had a "non covering" issue... and I got mine for $8.95 (with THIS PROMO CODE), guaranteed/warranteed for life.

Got an OtterBox... the Commuter for the LG Optimus... it also comes with a hard screen protector included.

Then there's
1
THIS CASE that fits the phone WITH the OtterBox installed.

That leather case does not fit with the Otterbox installed. I think the seller may have shipped me the wrong item or is using the same advert to sell similar leather cases.

Did the seller send me the same case that you received?
