Best DUAL SIM android phone?

I will try too, just to increase the available memory.
In the mean time, did your Xt532 arrive?

This is another known release that's officially on the shelf, in India that is. Not sure if it delivers to anywhere outside India. The two online store links below:

From what I read about, this is the same as the LG P698 that went on sale in China not long ago. LG China's web link:LG P698 ????- ?????Android 2.3 ?????800MHz CPU?1500mAh ??????11.7mm ?????3.2 HVGA?????? - LG ????

However, I think the Indian version offer full Google Apps support, where the Chinese version offers no Google Apps support at the moment.

LG's India website has clearly listed some Google Applications (Gmail, G talks, Google Search, Youtube...) under "Extra Features" and "Communications". Link attached for comparison:

Also, just noticed there s ebay from taiwan based seller offering P698 that looks like similar to the Indian version.

I tried the first 4 but all result in non-understandable chinese pages or hotfile links that do not exist anymore. If someone can provide updated links for the files needed, it would be great.
The fifth one claims success but during the process the logging states: fail to copy superuser.apk. access forbidden.

The last one results in: "failed to get shell root":(
So no workable solution yet

Although the XT532 is running smoothly and fast in general (fast compared to my HD Mini converted to froyo) there seems to be a hick up every now and then with the back button. It sometimes seems to stop responding. So if you want to go back within the application in which this happends, you have to kill it. Or just wait, normally it gets back to normal wihtin a minute. But still anoying. Is there anyone out there with the same experience (or better, a solution)?
thx

I checked the internet and found there is a XT532 user who uses MOTO XT615 root process on XT532 and it works perfectly.

I have uploaded the Root process and related files to 4share website.
You can download from below URL.
XT532 ROOT.zip - 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download

Motorola XT 532 Root document:
Motorola XT532 Root process.pdf - 4shared.com - document sharing - download

Please make a testing on your XT532 and feedback for your testing result.

Indeed it works! Great and thank you!
Some additions to the process listed in the pdf:
1) first install the proper drivers (they are in the zip from the previous post) and enable USB debugging on phone (settings/applications/development)
2) install SUT1.75, it is in the zip file from the previous.

3) Run SUT1.75, choose the corresponding file (FXX_PR3_NV.xml) which is in the root.zip in the zip file from the previous post, when "Task 2 of 2 finished", click "Finish",
then your phone reboots
4) run superoneclick (also in the zip), press root and voila, your XT532 is rooted

I was very tempted to buy the XT532 but it really seems as if this phone is not dual sim active.

LG's P698 (sometimes also called "Optimus Net Dual") seems to be full dual active. In one description it is said that you can receive and even take calls on line 2 if you have an active call on line 1.

Here's a comparison between these 2 phones. Technically, they're almost identical, the Motorola does have a slightly larger screen and considerably more internal storage memory, though.

So, the motorola seems to be slightly ahead if it not were for the full dual sim functionality. What do you think? Which of the 2 would you prefer and why?

The P698 has smaller screen but it also has higher pixel density, so I'd say the display quality is not far from XT532. It is also smaller and lighter than the XT532.

I m not sure if P698 is dual active though as it only has one antenna which is essential to dual active.

I read somewhere that the P698 has 2 IMEI numbers. Doesen't this autmatically qualify for 2 GSM modules and therefore dual active mode? Maybe I'm wrong here, I'm no expert...

If i m not wrong all dual sim phones need to have 2 IMEI numbers for the two sim to be operating at the same time, that's just a pre-requisit for dual-sim anything, be it dual standby or dual active.

What apps and why not ?

any apps that demands processing powers that's more than basic phone features, including most games, even the testing app such as Quadrant and Linpack. And the UI was very slow in general.

Not sure if you have noticed the Processor speed was not listed on the specs. This is the case even for the official website. http://www.alcatelonetouch.com/global-en/products/smartphones/ot-918d.html

I did a hardware testing when having the phone and the clock speed was undetectable. That's when I concluded the quality was below standard and returned mine to Alcatel.

IT would appear that you are incorrect. I have experience of two dual sim androids, both of which only have a single IMEI.

As a matter of interest, Bruno Martins is working on building a ROM for the G11i Pro, sold by etotalk, which includes gingerbread 2.3.5

He has posted this news:
In this new Android 2.3.5 ROM there is a huge improvement: SIM2 is still reachable even if there's an active data connection on SIM1.

Hi
I booght it by Etotalk for US$466.00 all inclusive. The phone come with chinese language :-(. I'm danish ;-). I succeeded to change it to english after a while. The phone is very fast and smooth and SIM2 i working with 3G (europe).

BUT there is a BIG problem. Android Market crashing always with this error: 'the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly'. Also if I use browser. I have tried many versions of Android Market and some guides on Internet. Same error. So I can't get any applications from the Market. Because of that I think that the ZTE U960 is useless. There is some others functions who also crash.

I have also tried af factory reset. Same problems.

Manual I can install apps. whitout problems :-).

there is a program with the phone 'JOIN ME' who should could make contact with the phone but it can't see the phone and I can't se the phone's memory card in my computer with Windows 7 32 bit.

I send Etotalk an e-mail 3 days ago and they went back that Etotalk's engineers is working at the problem. I hope that something happend soon.

Anyway. I would make af video and put it on youtube later this week so everybody can se how fast it is etc.

Any question then ask me :-)

I found this dual sim Samsung on the internet.
Samsung GT E 2652W Champ Dual- SIM
Any comments or tips please?

It is not an Android phone so no access to Market but to Samsung apps. It runs on Samsung OS
The specs look OK. Low memory 80MB limits the number of contacts. The screen is a bit small for my taste. But if it meets your needs, it seems a fair phone. I have included the specs her. You might also want to check here too as they differ slightly:
