Best DUAL SIM android phone?

Better to do a real test than guess on icons (the icons are there on affected phones too).

If you can, try to download something (or launch a speedtest) and call the sim 2 from another phone.

Thanks

Today I was downloading with SIM1 angry birds file (19 MB), while downloading I tried to make 3 calls on SIM2, all were successful, I saw when call appeared on my phone that downloading was stopped for a while and then continued again. Is it satisfying test?

Regards,

Petr

I have been using XT532 for over a week now, very solid little phone by itself.

custom rom support is very limited with XT532 at the moment, Motorola's tough stand on bootloader makes it not a popular choice for the dev. also the fact that not many owners of XT532 out there.

LG Net Dual seems neck to neck with XT532. I read before at least 2 online dealers in india sells LG Net, but i cant be 100% sure as I dont live in india.

if you set ur heart on XT532, there is a ebay seller from taiwan that sells XT532 globally.

LG Net Dual XT532
800 mhz ARM6 800 mhz ARM6
512 MB ROM/RAM 512 MB ROM/RAM
3.2 inch 3.2 inch
CGM 9 (ICS) Available No custom rom
200 usd 350 usd

XT532's big screen is a plus but no custom rom and high price, tilts the deal in favor of Net Dual.

However, I took Net Dual in hand and it is not very appetizing though I was comparing it with Motorola Defy+ which is not a right comparison.

Very satisfying, thanks ;)

1) Does anybody know the OPPO x903 phone ? (400EURO)
2) Compared to the ZTE U960 (400USD=307EURO today), which is the best one?
3) Pros and cons of the Oppo ...

ThanX in advance,
Carlo

The Oppo with its qwerty keyboard looks really like a dream, but is really hard to have first hand informations.

The dual sim users are used to cheap phones and usually don't mind to get something of expensive and the users used to high level phones, usually don't care about dual SIM ones.

Surely I don't like it's idiotic iphone like UI, obviously this can be fixed with a custom rom, but in the future, maybe far future.

Well, for one thing the OPPO x903 is not a dual sim phone...

I see, unfortunately the information is wrong. They probably copy/pasted their specs from some other phone, and missed to correct it, or something like that :p

Is written everywhere that is a dual sim, since the day it was presented.

Then is possible that was an initial mistake or misunderstanding on the release notes and everyone copied them :(

The good part, at least for me, is that the Zte is again the best dual SIM smartphone on the market, w/o any viable contender, w/o any doubt.

i bought one month ago the xt532 from Taiwan , Yupitek. I confirm all positive feedback over this phone, and recommend it to all people who want a quite good android dual sim. Very stable, confortable and useful phone!

Hey everyone, been reading the posts heaps of good info.

Looks like for me I rather the xt532 as I can't be bothered with customising much this time, got sick of it on my last phone so the xt532 sounds like easier out of the box.

My problem is I'm with Optus so need 900/2100, is it possible to get the XT with that?

Don't think so, which means I'm stuck with the ZTE but now I have the problem that my work sim (sim 1) will undoubtedly be 128k and I don't believe I will be able to get that changed work's line on phones is: here you go, if it breaks we get you new one, but no you can't pay extra for diff phone or have this or have that etc etc.

Th solutor did you solve your 128k sim problem? (I was reading on the ETO talk page says sim 1 only accepts 64k?)

There isn't a problem with 128K sim, there is a problem with the 128K SIMs from Vodafone Italy, anything else I tried works perfectly, no matter if 128k or not.

BTW I haven't solved the problem yet, I tried everything obvious and less obvious.

I tried the B10, B12 and B13 based ROMs,I tried even a turbosim clone, and I tried replacing the android radio and SIM related libs with the ones taken from the Gsmart from gigabyte, and other single SIM phones.

Using the libs from a single SIM phone, the second SIM became (unsurprisingly) inactive, but the first one wasn't fixed (worked with 64k only).

So I'm reasonably sure that the problem is not in the android part of the phone.

The problem must be in the baseband section, so pretty hard to discover w/o the help of ZTE technicians or from a very skilled developer with a very good knowledge of that section.

I don't know why etotalk mention the 64k SIMs in general, likely is because is pretty hard to explain what SIM work and what doesn't, but is possible they had other feedback from users from other countries.

I asked about that notice on their website, but I got no reply so far.

P.S. I still haven't tried an updated baseband, it's available on some Chinese forums as (hidden) attachment, the problem is that, usually, being registered there is not enough to see the hidden sections

mmm, so you reckon I'm reasonable safe with my Telstra 128k sim in slot 1?
Is there a way to check prior to forking out 400$?

I believe you're reasonably safe, but not 100% safe.

I remember the N900 had problems with the SIMs from three UK and three Sweden, but worked fine with anything else, including the SIMs from Three Italy, Three Australia, Three HK and so on...

So my guess is that those Vodafone.IT SIMs are more like an exception rather than a rule, but I can't exclude other not working SIMs given there are hundreds of providers, each one with SIMs built from different companies, and coming from different generations.

what does inverting the sims mean?

I currently have my personal phone number (data/personal calls)
and work mobile (no data, just work phone calls)

edit: hope this inverting sims isn't a solution as I just hit to go button @ etotalk :)

edit 2: just realised what you meant by inverting the sims. you really could of used the word switched, I assumed you meant something fancy I didn't know about. Nah I can't switch them as I only have data on one of the sims and can't change that. (again the whole work not allowing individuality on the mobiles thing)

:o Haha, please take in account that my poor English is used to get worse in the early morning, Italy has the bad habit of being on the other side of the planet, so was around 5am when I used that false friend word. ;)

Ok, my point was that (likely) the worst case scenario is not using two phones, but using the sim in the other slot. You can use data on sim 1 or sim 2, obviously on sim 1 you will get GPRS/EDGE only.

Anyway I hope you will never have the problem at all :)

hi ,I was a proud user of NEXUS S /ICS 4.03 until I bought Dual sim Lg P698 in Russia last month ..super phone ,although it is a bit small in size after the nexus S ,I am very happy with it .gingerbread 2.3.4 is running like a gem ,BATTERY life compared to Chinese made dual/androids ,it is very good, lasting 2 days . Now I ,do not know what to do with my Nexus S ? Very comfortable to carry one smartphone with dual sims.. till my first Nexus one ,i have always used android phones ,and now will be looking forward to bigger sized android phone with ICS ..soon

Hey Firuz, wanted to know exactly the same. I had posted the same question in a different thread.

http://androidforums.com/android-lounge/500860-lg-optimus-net-dual.html

Any reviews would be really (greatly) appreciated.

And to the people that have it with market, if you enter on your PC to the market, the U960 is regconized by the system or only can use the market from the phone.

You can use the market fron PC even with crap chinese clones.

The only problem is the error returned trying to intsall a payd app (even an already payd one).

With that ZTE there aren't problems at all.

Market works just like on an HTC or Motorola phone.

I can confirm, the problems with the android market.

2 days ago I recieved my LG P698.
Overall I'm very pleased with the phone. It took me just a couple of minuts to get both sim's working properly. To make the G3 internet connection took me a little longer, but by trial and error I was able to manage.

The touch screen gives a good response and the battary life seems ok.
I've used it very intensively for 1 day and at the end of the day the battery still had 60% left...
The pre-installed flashplayer works, it's no problem to view items from youtube.

The only problem I encounter right now is that the Android Market is not working properly.
On my request the supplier already rooted the phone and installed the market a couple of app's..
I can open the market but as soon as I wanted to accept&download something from the market it displays the following message:
"Sorry, the application market has stopped unexpectedly. please try again"

I also bought and started working with my P698 2 weeks ago in Moscow .Very happy with . using 2.3.4 from the time being ,all is smooth .especially working with 2 sim .cards . I was a proud owner of a Nexus S with ics.but now I do not need it,except for the big screen and ics ... .looking forward to something Android 4inc+ ICs ,DUAL SIM of course .
