Best DUAL SIM android phone?

Just saw the Newman N1 (Newsmy N1). It looks really good with MTK6577, ICS, 1GB/RAM, 4GB/ROM, 4,3" qHD IPS and so on. It seem to be a "real" brand to judge from their website Newman here and mobile dedicated webpage here.

The price is attractive to at under 200$! (189$ at etotalk)

Releasedate should be 31 of July (edit: preorder officialy starts 31/7 - release date is 8/8 accoding to the official site) .

Hey guys, Etotalk is recommending the Lenovo A789.

Specs are good and it looks like a bargain for $179 dollar: with the 1GHz MT6577 cpu it's faster then the other Lenovo models like the A750 and 780, has Android 4, can be updated with Google Play on request. It's faster then the Acer Liquid Gallant which still has a MT6575 cpu, the screen is a bit smaller though. Not to forget: no release date since it is already available! Only downside I could find whas the 512MB RAM. Good stuff right?

However, after buying a dual sim android phone last year, I don't trust specs anymore :p. The 2000mAh battery is probably imaginary, does the GPS actually work? Any strange bugs? Does it crash daily? Last month I buried my FET T8888 which was to slow. I just bought a low-tech dual-sim Nokia 110 and it rocks! 5 seconds boot, instant call, instant response, battery seems to last years, very user friendly and only 50 euro. So I was thinking, how can low-tech stuff be so much better than an Android phone? And I do miss a big screen with internet access with the Nokia. So what do you guys think, will the Lenovo A789 beat the Nokia 110

To finish, a picture of the dual sim nokia :p

I have a dual sim Android phone that has a Qualcom MSM7227 600MHz chip set in it. Some of the specifications are

Connectivity Technology: GSM & 3G WCDMA network (Dual SIM, GSM+WCDMA)
Network Band: GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz & 3G HSPDA 2100 MHz
Data Technology: GPRS, HSPDA
Bluetooth: Bluetooth 2.1
WLan: Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11 b/g/a

I use 2 different carriers as I live in a hilly part of the country and where one fails the other is active.

It is running Android 2.2. Does anyone know where i might find information of upgrading the Android system to one of the later if not latest version.

Lenovo was the 2nd IT maker in the world after HP and very likely has already reached the n1 ranking.

Waaaaaay different than the usual chinese clone maker, so if lenovo writes 2Ah it's true.

What he said.

I have had both Chinese clones, ZTE U960, Lenovo A60 and now A750. In terms of quality and stability it is far better then the cheap Chinese brands/no name phones (like FET). It is true that the battery is 2Ah.

why would u want dual sim? im not exactly clear on the advantage/

One work sim + one personal sim on the same device.

A sim with a good data plan in one slot and a sim with a good voice plan on the other

For frequent travelers an home sim and a destination sim

Etc...

A dual sim phone is absolutely useful...

That sounds good. I hope it's true :).

How do you like the A750? Is it fast enough or still a bit unresponsive?

The A750 does not feel sluggish and is definitely not unresponsive. Performance is feels about the same as the HTC Desire S my wife has. If you wan't more information on Lenovo phones (the A750) take a look here

Note that the Lenovo A789 has been released, and it has the same specs but better CPU: MT6577 which is dual core 1GHz. Price is almost the same. I would probably choose thatone over the A750 if I were to buy today.

BTW: Just looked up the T8888 and I actually had that for about a month, then the microphone broke (had to get my money back trough a Paypal claim actually). Lenovo A750 is much faster, and quality and feel is in a totally different league.

Hi,

I'm really interested in this HTC Desire V but having a original Desire, I'd like to know if the amount user available memory on the phone.
My Desire has 150mb which is way to low. I'm looking for at least the double. Does any owner of the HTC Desire V has the answer?

Thanks so much!

It has the usual 384 MB of ram available, and part of it used by the system, likeyour desire, my u960 and so on.

Which is more than enough.

More free ram means just more real multitasking, but means also more battery usage because more apps are left running in bacground.

any software for restoring IMEI in star A1200 dual sim?there is a software mastertools for changing IMEI but i never found it.

I'm sorry but I was asking about the ROM or the memory where the user data such as messages, images is and also where the apps are storing some files they need.
You're telling me that out of the 4GB of ROM, 384mb is available?

Thanks.

Usually the imei data are stored in

/data/nvram/md/NVRAM/NVD_IMEI/MP0B_001 (older firmwares)

/nvram/md/NVRAM/NVD_IMEI/MP0B_001

There are some tools to recovery the lost imei and obviosusly to chenge them

If I'm not wrong it can be also changed via engennering or factory mode.

Usually

*#3646633#

and

*#66*#

No, that is not what he is telling you. RAM and ROM is two different things.

On Android images and app data is stored in different areas of the ROM memory. E.g. the producer determines how much of the ROM is allocated to Sytem storage, system cache, Applications storage and internal SD. With 4GB of ROM it will be more then 150 MB. You can probably expect that System total is about 1 GB and Application storage about the same.

Best way to find out, is to ask the seller (e.g. etotalk.com).

I have ZTE-U960, but the display have a Crack so I need a new screen. Etotalk want US$ 100 for a new screen and I think thats to expensive.

BLU Vivo have the best specifications. Camera 8MP, very thin 9.3 mm and the Super Amoled. Very nice specifications.

But today I ordered Newman N1. Its very cheap US$ 170. I think it's the second best Dual sim after Blue Vivo 4.3. I know that Newman and Blue Vivo dont have Dual Sim Active but for me it's more importent that the camera is good. I think it would be here at about 14 days and I will come back with a review of the Newman N1.

Hello all dual-sims fans :)
I already own a Samsung Galaxy S2 (HK version) that runs often crazy, shutting down just like this, or going off and on ... Anyhow, no what I expected after changing from HTC to Samsung:rolleyes:
I just purchased a dual-sim phone, in China where I live half of my time, a Lenovo P700 running Ice cream sandwich. Super fast, good looking, a bit weark display thought but ok.
The problem.... Impossible to sync my Google contacts, calendar and no access to Google Market, eventhough I am in Europe right now.:(
Would rooting it solve the problem?
If yes, how to do it? I have never done it.
Thanks for any suggestion
