Root best ROM for droid x

Bump. I'm curious about Liberty but it sounds buggy as shit. Now that it's been out for a bit, people still recommending this? Or should I stick with ApeX?
where did you get your info about it being so buggy??...i have only experienced a couple very minor issues...

You'll miss the dialer, I suggest downloading dialer one and touchpal smart dialer to replace the one that comes with Liberty.

Exactly what do yo mean by you'll miss the dialer in Liberty? I am just playing around with the rooting (just got mine rooted) and getting ready to try some different ROM's. Do you mean Liberty does not have a dial keypad when you make calls or what?

I think he means you'll miss the blur dialer which makes predictions on your next call when you start dialing numbers based on your previous calls. I personally don't miss it one bit. I'm used to the android dialer by now.

From this thread. It's hard to tell with this stuff if most people are having problems or if it's just a few... I'm hoping it's the latter, because I'd love to give it a try but it sounds like some folks are having some major problems.

Those are minor issues and improvements ppl want for the most part. Big issues are usually because the installation process wasn't done correctly. I used Apex for a long time and loved up I would load other roms and went back to Apex right because of the speed and reliability.

However, I am now on Liberty and I would say its just as reliable and a little faster. I can only imagine it once it gets some updates. I would recommend Liberty over Apex but Apex is a little more noob friendly so Apex is a good place to start.

Just remember to factory reset your phone before installing specially for Liberty.

I can tell you that Liberty is the FIRST and only rom i ever flashed on my DX..and i can tell you...if there is a more stable rom out there...its got to be damn near PERFECT...

i've had just one minor issue that i can think of...the only reboots i've had are due to pushing my overclocking a little to far...its run very well on my phone...

I have only flashed Apex and now DarkSlide but have been reading for a while on these sites (lurker like most then took the plunge), from the reading I've done, most of the issues of loading up the rom they wanted was due to not wiping the data first. I am very grateful for all the knowledge here and how helpful people are in this community.

Back on topic, Apex is great, enjoying DarkSlide and want to try Liberty but I have to have corporate sync and haven't read where the security code issue is fixed and don't want to use Touchdown just yet.

Waiting to see what the updates bring.

I have tried most of the ROM's, not all version of them, I was on the original fusion and I know it got better over time.

The one I stuck with the longest and had the fewest bugs was ApeX. If you are just starting out and want to make sure your phone works IMO ApeX is the way to go. Not only is it a great, fast and stable ROM, a lot of people use it so there is support if you need it.

I am currently on Liberty and it is amazing. There are still some bug on it, my phone seems to handle the ROM with little issues and what there are is just more a pain than a really problem. Once they get these worked out (and I think they will) this will be a great ROM as well. I really wish my phone would have come this way out of the box.

I have my back up of ApeX ready to go at anytime. Not to take away from any of the other ROMs and developers out there. They all have what is important to them in a ROM and they just don't always match up to what I need on a daily basis. I would say give the ones that look nice a try, if you like it get it the way you want it and then make a back-up of your system. When you get bored try another one that looks interesting, the worst that (should) happen is you just go to your back-up that you were happy with.

I couldn't agree more. Well said and sound advice

So, from what I am reading, Liberty is a stock vanilla android rom, with no blur crap? I am looking for a totally stock android rom.

personally i think it's between Fission and Liberty for the absolute best roms.

If you want absolute stability with some customization options built in go with Fission

If you want tonnes of customization built in but don't mind the possibility of bugs then go with Liberty (at least until they work out a few kinks)

If you're looking for a ROM to ease you into things then go with ApeX.
It's very stable, has some good customization options and keeps all the right parts of blur so you won't be totally lost coming from your stock X.

I've tried most of the ROM's out there and for the most part, I stuck with ApeX. But I had some weird quirks here and there.

Of late its been a toss up between Fission and Liberty, with Liberty winning the race. Its just so fast and customizable (with the Liberty Toolbox). Loving the choices and its just a win win with jrummy's presence in the ROM.

Try them all and see what works best on your phone, but for me, so far, Liberty is the one!

I LOVE ApeX 1.4.1...

I flashed Liberty 1.0 the day it released...flashed Liberty 1.5 the day it released and thought they were great...Though Liberty 1.5 had a problem where after a day or so without rebooting my phone it would slowly start to bog down...

i gave ApeX a shot when 1.4 came out and fell in love...super smooth, possibly a little bit slower than Liberty, but i've experienced no reboots, no slowdowns, just smooth as silk since flashing...

fonefreak, it's about time some rubix got around here! I see it occasionally, but nowhere near the amount of Liberty.
