Root Beware Google Voice Hijacked my phone

Yeah I have to say that it's very annoying to have google voice integrated into the phone. Now everytime I text somebody its sent from Google Voice.

If you watch as you are setting it up, it asks if you want to integrate your number or not. The first time I got caught in it and had to log in on my pc to fix it. The second time I saw that option and no more issues.

Yeah I saw that in the thread that the OP linked to. Too bad there isn't an option in the phone app to un-link the accounts. Seems like a bit of a hassle to me...

To me too. Took me about an hour to get mine straightened out. Maybe they will put something in an update for GV if enough people complain about it.

Yeah, especially if the market reviews started going way down hill (like it sounds like they did). I'm sure google checks their rating on the market :) And I always looked at google as a company that takes the opinions of it's users seriously.
Hopefully it gets resolved.

Yeah I went to the browser from my phone and adjusted the settings. Thx

I had this happen to me. Dear lords, how annoying it was. EVERYTHING was going through and TO GV. Didn't know why I wasn't getting any phone calls or texts until I went and looked in GV. Luckily there's a way to unassociate your phone number and revert back to the original GV number.

Thank you for this post. I had the same thing happen and I wasn't even flashing a rom!!! I was dinking with it just so I could call sprint from a masked number and ask if they lifted the root ban yet and next thing I know I was getting "who is this?" replies to my texts!!! I was LIVID!!!! And I was nowhere near a computer to fix it either! That night I was waiting for an important phonecall from a lovely lady who I had texted from the gv # and thank God she was bright enough to call that number... anywho, again thanks for this post to warn others about the potential mess it could make for peoples lives :)

You don't need to be by a computer to get on the internet to fix it. Your phones browser works just fine. You might have to change your browser settings and turn off mobile view though.

can someone write a detail instruction to fix this?

I have looked and tried... tested.. can not find the right settings.

I'll try my hand at it.

I'll try my hand at a guide I suppose.

From Computer:
# voice.google.com > This redirects you to your voice account.
# The gear in the right corner (click it!) then select Voice Settings.
# Now you are at a "phone" tab. This is where you do it (when I did it during the winter, I don't think anything has changed, but maybe).

From Phone:
# Using your browser of choice, find the setting to enable Desktop mode. I've used the desktop mode on both Dolphin Browser and Maxathon (whatever the hell it's called).

Then See "From Computer" section.

Hope that helps some people out.

(this is taking me a while, damn dial up!)

Okay cool. Hope it helps people out, I had to un-sync my voice account a few months back, and that's how I did it. And I went through the steps when I made that post, but there wasn't a phone synced to it to really test it with.

Should work though, it looked like those were the steps.
:P

Did your settings page have your phone number with a check box? That's how I un-synced mine a few months back. I haven't tried with the new voice app though. Maybe I'll do that...

yes.. I can unsync .. deactivate the account. i get no voicemail and no text.
I only want to stop the text from going trough google.. send it back to my carriers service.

Oh, so the issue is that everyone wants to use GV as their voicemail, while keeping the texting through Sprint? What about regular phone? is that though Sprint of GV?

Okay, so I downloaded GV and while I was trying to set it up, I visited my google voice account online. I was looking at their forums and found this post.

If you dig through it, there is a person Larryrxt (or something to that extent) who has the solution over a couple of posts. There is a DISABLE link in the settings somewhere (they didn't specify).

here's the link:

unable to place an out outbound call from my sprint number after i downloaded Google Voice (EVO 3D) - Google Voice Help

hope that helps everyone.
