Root Big probs with internal memory

Try a different rom, or talk to others on that rom.

Which version are you using? The non a2sd version?

Just installed a different rom and now got 75mb still way below the 138mb I had this morning though.
Must still be some crap on the internal memory, but ive formatted as instructed.
Wish i'd never started this, now my phone feels knackered even though it works!!

I used LeeDroid for awhile and it does have a Apps2sd but there is a non Apps2sd as well if I remember right. For me I did not get full internal memory back but with the apps2sd I was able to down load a lot of apps with out a problem. I just used the Titanium back up to see if I had apps2sd working or not. Are you sure you down loaded the apps2sd version and have you partitioned your sd card ?

Just checked and it is the apps2sd version but no my card isnt partitioned. This doesnt explain the install i had this morning though
Wondering if im installing the rom correctly now, just noticed the option "apply sdcard update.zip" should i be doing that anywhere along the installation??

Actually I'm surprised that the a2sd version of LeeDroid would boot without an ext partition on the card - I'm sure I've read of that not working for other people in the past.

So can I check I've understood correctly: you had 139 MB free with your original ROM, but only 49 MB with LeeDroid? If so, that may not indicate a problem at all. LeeDroid comes with a lot of exta apps, as I recall (I installed it once for an hour or two only), all of which will have their app caches and dalvik caches using your internal space. And the a2sd version of LeeDroid is deodexed, which means it uses more internal space. So I can imagine it does eat a lot of internal storage - a lot of this stuff would be intended to go to sd-ext partition, but you don't have one so it can only go to internal. Wouldn't have guessed it would use 100 MB, but that you would have a lot less space than the stock ROM gave sounds plausible.

Like SUroot though, I do find it surprising that you had 139 MB free - that's only using 10 MB of your phone's internal storage, including contacts etc as well as apps.

thanks Hadron, no I had 138mb free after I installed the new rom, I took the option to back up Rom using Rom manager and my phone froze, forcing me to reinstall the Rom. That's when the problem started.

Well I admit that I'd have hoped for > 85MB free with the non-a2sd version. But I do wonder whether the 138MB was anomalous - that's a lot of free space from a not especially lightweight ROM?

But certainly if you've done a factory reset (which will wipe the data and cache partitions) and reinstalled the ROM (which overwrites the system partition) that really ought to clear everything. The 85MB is with your stuff restored, I guess?

Yes that with some of my apps restored, I expect I've git a further 10mbs worth to put back on. I have cleared any apps that I won't use that came with rom. When I got 138mb earlier, it went down to 131mb after I reinstalled some of my apps so it appeared that the phone was reporting the correct men available, I'm at a loss with this.

Update. Turned phone on this morning and it wouldn't boot up !! re-installed rom and will see how it goes, still 85mb available though.

personally i would RUU the device and start again
something is not right there at all, i think the recovery is glitched and is not wiping data correctly
you could try using unrevoked and flash a different recovery like amonRA 2.0.1 then do a wipe (do not restore though as the backup is from a different recovery)
then install and see if you have the same problem

if you are s-off you can just do fastboot flash recovery <recoveryimagenamehere>.img
