Root Bionic?

So if i were to obtain the bionic what is the downfall of an encrypted bootloader? I know you can still root and flash roms since the droid x can.

From the talk thats been going on, you wont be able to do shit to android anymore. Software tracking meids so no more roms. Basically the Thunderbolt is the last developer phone.

Unless someone can say otherwise?

MEID Tracking starts when a person "refuses" an OTA update. Personally, i always refuse OTA updates until i do research and make sure nothing got broke. Mainly when i run my phone(s) stock.

Hey well in our roms you can "accept" the ota but when it tries to install it is blocked by velocity or whatever rom. Will that get around it? And i just want to know what i CANT do with the bionics locked up bootloader

No it wont get around it, but im personally not worried about it. can flash custom kernels with an encrypted bootloader. cant ever get a "full aosp" rom.

Ok thats good enough for me lol bloatware wont bother me because the bionic has a decent amount of ram unlike the ally (128mb...rly lg?) So bloatware wont make a huge difference. Rooting and overclocking is all i care for. Themeing would be nice but eh who cares.

Death what is this Meid tracking your talking about??
What is Bionic??
I am feeling pretty lost in this Thread.

All this stuff sounds scary to me. Does this mean they are "tracking me"
does this mean that all new phones will not be able to have ROms.... am I over reacting just a little??

Can ya help me out Brother?

Bionic is a new droid phone coming out. It has a signed bootloader. They will try to stop custom roms by tracking who doesnt accept ota updates in the future.

Ps: You can be tracked at anytime by verizon without your discression. Even law enforcement can do this by simply requesting it.

BIG BROTHER IS EVERYWHERE!

Well I figured there was tracking to some extent.
However who is making this "Bionic" Do we think or Know that every manufacturer is going to this Signed bootloader?

Does this mean No more roms for newer phones or just the Manufacturer of Bionic?

edit: Well I see that Bionic is Motorola. I have never liked the Motos anyway. However are all companies going to this With exception of the Nexus series. I know Google wont lock you out because they encourage Roms and exploration in order to make their software better for the future.
I guess if worse comes to worse I will Just go Nexus.

Any comments ppl. Is what I said correct?

2nd Edit: It seems that the nexus is only for Tmobile which I guess now is At & T so thats a no go.

Expoilts used to gain root are also exploits that leave you vulnerible to an attack of some kind. Manufacturers are taking it from a security stand point, but its pretty obvious they dont want custom roms. Google may want android to be open, but the manufacturer has the final say so in what they want their hardware to do and to seal any exploits they can. This is why we see signed bootloaders, and will see it a lot more often.

Actually I read an article the other day that said google was somewhat behind this too. They are no longer just releasing their source code to anyone and are only releasing it to some manufacturer's with certain agreements attached. The article said google was getting upset with some add-ons to the os taking the operating system in a different direction than they wanted it to go.
