Root Birthday rom!!!!!

All this talk about Xplod is making me want to try it out. What build of CM7 is it based off? What Android version is it?
 
fearmede b8.5 is also a pretty sweet rom. i just flashed this a few days ago and have seen no issues yet other then 4g not working. but i really like where the devs are going with this rom.
 
Happy Bday! Wow, to be 14 again. I'd do everything over the same, just alot harder LOL

is that fearmede ROM really large? Last 3.5 i tried didn't leave me with an ample amount of space left

I'm not a fan of AOSP other than MIUI. But the Xplode ROM isn't so bad. Still can't stand the AOSP dialer, but i'm digging the storage space left. I actually like the launcher also.

I love me some aosp. I'm downloading right now. When you bring up the dialer you can press your search button and then it will allow you to start typing in names to search through your contacts. I've always going that to be pretty useful.

That's very helpful, thanks! I still don't see why they don't make the functionality of dialing by name like most other dialers. One thing i hate about AOSP is having to fix so much right off the bat (GPS, Wireless Tether, GApps, etc). I do have to say, this Xplode is running better on my phone than regular CM7 ever has. I don't really get the screen wake issues on this one either. I had 1 issue with memory space getting messed up, but re-running a2sd cachesd fixed it. It's a keeper for now. I'm gonna let them get a few more RC1.x's up before i reflash to fix the black on black notification issue, but hopefully this AOSP ROM will continue to perform (unless someone makes another awesome Sense ROM first).

rls1.2 was supposed to fix the black on black issue.

Actually i think it was fixed in the 1.1 version, but if they're rolling them out like good candy in a preppy neighborhood, i'll wait for more updates to justify reflashing and setting everything back up LOL (sorry, got halloween on my mind)

I've used 3rd party dialers before, but they've always had a lag issue on my phone. Kinda like WidgetLocker replacing the lockscreen, apps like those give me functionality issues after a couple days :(

I personally used the one I linked with CM7 and it was flawless, but YMMV.

Well this thread has officially made me feel old. Phones like these didn't exist when I was that young. Anyone else remember bag phones? I got one for my 16th birthday, had to plug it into the cig lighter for it to work lol

Absolutely. I also remember the attached truck phone. It was integrated in the truck, had a mic up by the visor, and it honked the horn when the truck was turned off for incomming calls.
The brick Motorola also comes to mind. :D
