Root Black and Red SystemUI, LGPhone.apk & LGUSMms.apk

Samson Inc.

Well-Known Member
Its the Red twist on our stock SystemUI.apk. As with the Black and Green version, that blue glow is still there. Installation works the same as with the Black and Green flavor; copy the downloaded file, paste in /system/app. Set permissions to rw-r--r--, reboot, enjoy! As before, MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANYTHING!

Download it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/er1mjme80gz6w89/SystemUI.apk

Here's a blacked out with red accents LGPhone.apk:

It will affect your incoming call screen as well as the color of buttons and dialpad while you are in a call only!

Here's LGUSMms.apk with red accents on the popup and icon:

You're quite welcome. :D Since i've read that Scrubtastix and others are working on various themes, i'll be moving onto some of the other system apps. I do have one other flavor in mind, but right now i need a break from the SystemUI.

It looks great, Thank you!

i have a quick question i am going to try to mess with it and make a dif colored one within SystemUi which folder do you edit the colors in?

Edit: i DID edit the png's AND xml's, so i guess i did get down with it. way down. lol

O orite , you did one hell of a job bro . It looks amazing .
Damn xmls, i hate them . (only because i dont understand them )
What im trying to do is change the backgroud color which is white on all the system apps . Like on your sms app . Unfortunately , im only able to mess with almost every other color exept the background . Would you do me a big favor and tell me which xml to edit and also how to edit it . Its a bunch of symbols that i dont understand . Thanks in advance .

Only thing i changed was the top of the app
Got me mad cause i went threw all the pics in res/drawable/mdpi folder . Also went to hdpi i think thats what its called . Like 20 times . Couldnt figure it out . Stayed up till 8 in the morning . I can change every other pic , well almost . Not the divider , just couldnt figure out how to change the background . I search in google but they talk about a folder in res that i cant find .

anyone is allowed to do that :p
This is Android=open source is welcomed and encouraged (except for apps) :p

Just don't release something that isn't your work and give credit where it is due :)

sure thing dude. also, i'd recommend reading up on how to properly install APK Tool or APK Multi Tool, as using those will give you all the files/folders you should get when decompiling.

use Notepad++ to read the xml's and look for this code:

android:background="#ff000000"

the part in quotes is the color code for black. most of the time, that part will say something like "drawable/blahblahsomething"

use the color codes found in various app's /res/values/colors.xml to find the color code you'd like to use.

Thanks a lot bro , much appreciated . Im using ninja morph , dont know if that app shows all the folders . Apk tools and apk multi tools are available on android as an app ? Also have you ever tried changing a image , lets say 4g icon and had trouble resizing the image ?

no worries. you will need to set up APK Tool and/or APK Multi Tool on your computer. I've only played with Ninjamorph a little. I'm not too familiar with it, but i know it wont give you all the files inside an apk.

For image editing, i use GIMP. You'll also need to install this on your computer. Resizing an image isnt hard at all, just know what dimensions to use. what i've recommended to others is whatever file your using instead of the stock image, either overwrite or export it to the stock image file.

Just edited you work , which you did a very good job at . Now i have red and blue , looking really good . You are the man .

About to go test it out with sms app in my pc . Can apk tools and apk multi tools be used in windows xp ?

@Samson

Hey, how do i properly install APK-Multi-Tool, I've tried running i think it was "setup.bat" but i always get the error "Adb was not found. You will not be able to manipulate the files in your phone". Do you know what might be the reason i get that error?

http://androidforums.com/transform-ultra-all-things-root/631337-diy-how-decompile-apk.html

i followed this guide to get me going. but once i was done, rather than use APK Tool, i decided to use APK Multi Tool, at the advice of some of our fellow Motioners. Once you do everything in that guide, just unzip APK Multi Tool to the root of your C drive, in it's own folder. I called mine "APK Multi Tool", oddly enough. lol.

To get yourself finalized, you'll need your framework-res.apk, lge-res.apk, and SystemUI.apk for good measure. Double click Setup.bat and run the options for framework-res, lge-res and systemui. Once that's done, open Script.bat and you should be good to go.

I havent used them yet, but from what i've read, AndroidSDK is helpful to have as well.

Samson did you get my pm for the .zip for your Green theme?
You want a .zip for this?

ummmm, nope. i got a visitor message on March 1 which was(I THINK) the updated Inverted LGUSMms.apk, but nothing for the SystemUI.apk's.

And yeah, a flashable zip for this one would be super duper. :D

Is there any reason why someone told you to use apk multi tools ? Im using apk tool I decompiled framework-res.apk but cannot find where to change the colors . This is all i get

Im at framework-res.apk/res/values/colors thats all i see
