Noooooooooooooooooo! :D

Seriously, I am surprised (and happy) they have lasted this long. We're already 2+ years since the launch of the OG EVO and I still love this phone. And the Hero has lasted even longer.

I'd like to give this rom a try, but having trouble finding a stock gapps. If I didn't know better, I'd say google hates me :(
I was also wondering, do I need the stock gapps to get it going? Or can I "cheat" and use the gapps I downloaded from the xda site?

Got that one :(

On the instructions for installing this ROM, step 3 is "flash ROM".
Step 4 is "flash stock gapps zip". Sadly, that is the step I'm stuck on. I've tried every type of google search I could to locate a "stock gapps zip". I'm at a loss here :(

Sorry, for being a total noob here :(

if you scroll down to the download section. it has the gapps file there for black ice.

FLASH INSTRUCTIONS

very important make a nandroid always!!

If you choose not to use this Gapps or follow instructions then you will need to ask yourself why isn't this or that working right!

1. Make sure your using latest recovery SmelkusMod Recomended
2. I recommend wiping data/factory reset (especially if on another rom) x3 to be safe!
3. Flash Rom
4. Flash stock gapps zip
5. Reboot go thru setup sign in to google account!
6. Get thru setup. (If you wanna let market restore your apps wait but try not to open market)
7. If you opened market before rebooting go into settings>apps>all apps and uninstall market updates!
8. Reboot back into recovery and flash Black_ICE-gapps zip

Step 4 is flash a stock gapps.
Step 8 is to flash the black ice gapps.
I'm just unable to find a stock gapps :(

*edit* I appreciate you guys helping me figure this out. I really am :)

this is the stock black ice gapps file:

BlackICE Gapps.Zip

edit: you are right. hold on a sec.

Its pretty smooth! I've tried a few different ICS roms and this is definitely a nice one.
I have same issues as others, haven't found a browser yet that doesn't fc.
My camera keeps fc too. Seems worse when it rotates

I got update 3 running. Installed most of the apps I use. So far, Be Weather has let me down, screen turns all green when I use it. So I switched to Weather Bug and so far so good.

I'm still playing with settings and figuring out where everything is and what it does, lol. Apex Launcher is nice.

Another thing I noticed, and I'll have to look into some more, is a2sd. Seems like it's working but at the same time it seems like it's not. What I mean is, titanium is reporting a2sd but shows I'm only using like 100mb of it, while internal memory is showing over 150mb used. In all fairness, I saw something similar with Deck's Reloaded. It only catches my eye because MikG shows way different, more like 50mb internal and 200mb or so on the a2sd.

*edit* Figured out why titanium was reporting such oddities as I saw with a2sd. It wasn't setup! After I made a nandroid b/u, I ran the a2sd install from a terminal and now it works! I might move the Dalvik cache back to internal but I figured it out. I'll check it in my Reloaded install when I get a chance. Anyone want to bet a2sd isn't installed? hehe
If I have anything else I'll post back here. Overall, I do like what I see so far :)

i always thought that gapps was pretty universal across the same builds i.e. any ics gapps will work with any ics rom

well yeah, thats to make sure that the writer of the op covers his ass... i was speaking in general since there was a subsequent discussion about which gapps to use n so forth... isnt there a general gapps released by the cyanogen team that should cover all bases?
