Root blackdroid has released Ultimate 3.7

Exactly!!! Thought I would be able to catch up on some sleep since I have only had two hours in the last 48hours!

All I see is nandroid....where is the update.zip option for 3.7?

And does it have auto-brightness?

Never mind - someone on alldroid confirmed no auto-brightness...do not get why that is absent!

A must-have for me...

I got confused for a minute cause 2 different ROMS were being discussed. To clarify...

Ultimate 3.7 doesn't have an update.zip file...just Nandroid. I think there were issues with the updater last time so it's not included with this release.

Ultimate does not have auto brightness :( with this release.

BB v0.5 does have both an update.zip and nandroid option.

which launcher are you all using? the release thread mentioned they fixed the landscape of launcher 2.1, but it still looks all screwy for me

I am using Launcher 2 b/c it is stable as heck, although with AdamZ's kernel I had FC issues that I am not having with Chevy's kernel.

And yes, I too am seeing weirdness when trying to use Launcher 2 in landscape mode...

Well, I'm going to give this a shot...been using BB1.1, DM's 1.2 kernel, but it seems to be running a bit warm for my tastes at 1GHz...DL'ing this now, will give it a shot, I assume it's a Nandroid in the zip file.

Well, just installed it, and think i will be going back to BB1.1....no OC'ing, and the battery's already running at 40C :( (as mentioned before, I'm assuming the AK sensor is the battery).
Any thoughts on what could be driving this?

You need to install one of the kernels for overclocking (super simple - they are located in the first post of the Ultimate 3.7 original thread). As for the temperature, it took a couple of reboots to get the temp to settle down. I was having problems with WIFI so I did go back to DroidMod 1.0 - all in all I was impressed by the Ultimate package and except for my wifi problem (I was too lazy to do any research on it) all seemed smooth and well polished. I will definitely give it a second look.

Yeah, I've got copies of Chevy's 1.2 and 1.25, as well as DM1.2 downloaded--my point was more that I WASN'T overclocked but was still seeing uncomfortably (to me, at least) high temperatures. When I first was running BB7.5, I was seeing temps below 75F, and now I seem to consistently be above 80.

I find the live wallpapers play havoc with temperature (but I do continue to play with them). My temperature generally remains around 85F but if I have a complex LWP like EarthRot running I see spikes up to 120.

Hmm...I wasn't running any LWPs, I don't think...Didn't see it as any kind of option, so I assumed they would need to be installed separately (when press-clicking, I got Widgets, folders, Wallpapers, but no LWP option). May give it a try later this afternoon, if I get a chance, but I'd have to figure out how to re-skin the app drawer to be more like the Hero one..

On a side note, what temperatures SHOULD I be concerned about?

This is looking pretty nice actually, and has a launcher2 that isn't buggy as hell.

I did remove a bunch of the crapware he had preinstalled, including the task manager.

His script for auto removing launcher1 didn't really work, so I did it manually.

So far, so good, running the Droidmod kernel at 1.2...let's see how stable it is throughout a day's use.

You have just got me motivated. I am going to try BlackDroid with the DroidMod kernel. Hopefully my wifi problem will clear up (never had a problem with any other ROm but never used the Chevy kernel before).

Well, launcher2 isn't as stable as I initially thought. After loading it up with widgets and whatnot, it would FC every now and then.

Also, the MT browser is Cyanogen's, not the Milestone version available in Pete's 2.1. So...I'm gonna just make a nandroid of this one all set up, and homefully, future versions will be better.

Back to Pete's 0.4 :D

Whew. I finally got this damn ROM working. Took me hours to find the right setup. AdamZ, t3hsteve kernels were no-go's, completely locked me out of booting or cause boot loops even at low speeds. Chevy's kernel was unstable at 1100 but at 1000 the phone seems to be working fine, finally. The ROM itself is nice and fast, once I managed to stabilize it. Launcher2 is OK, I guess. It's quick, but it's force closing. I haven't seen a force close in a while. I might have to switch back to the old launcher.

Wow, I have Chevy's running at 1100 perfectly fine - and I hav only had a single FC of the L2 thus far, and that was my own damn fault.

Of course, I took it a step further by installing, configuring and running DroidSwap - so that may make a difference, b/c that same DroidSwap reduced the number of FCs I was having on ADC to 2-3 a day from 2-3 every half-hour.

Fab, give DroidSwap a shot and see if it helps stabilize L2 - then send it packing and jum back to Pete's BB :D

A bit OT, but you prefer .4 to .5? If so, any specific reasons? I may want to revert, so far .5 seems stable though (1.0 Ghz) and I like the launcher...

I'm sticking with v0.4 of Pete's ROM, because I'm not liking what I read about his 7 screen launcher in the new ROM (how it doesn't allow widgets on the outermost screens), and I'm afraid I won't be able to skin his custom launcher with MM.

I thought about reverting back to launcher 1 on Ultimate 3.7, but then how would it be different from Pete's ROM?

As for Droidswap, doesn't that lower the lifespan of your SD card? I'm afraid mine wasn't too great to start with, as I've had file system errors on it before that I had to fix (thankfully, only lost a few pictures and some videos).

And as for college, well I just finished my hell week so I'm gonna get inebriated tonight.

Heh - I feel you - my midterms are next week, and then we start Spring break....

I haven't used a bugless in a couple of weeks now so I was not aware of these issues....

+1
I had nothing but problems with this ROM. Continuous boot loops. Wouldn't fully install when using nandroid. I had been using the DMupdater to do my rooting and ROM flashing since this ROM. So I figured I give it a whirl. Man, I was about ready to cry because it just wouldn't work. Finally got it to boot properly and then had continous FC on all kinds of apps, even core apps would crash, forcing me to do battery pulls. Was driving me nuts.
I couldn't even go back to DM 1.0. I had to reinstall the stock 2.0.1 ROM...then reapply 1.0.
I'm certainly not a pro, but I can follow directions very well and am able to pick up on these technical issues rather quickly. Good thing I remembered checking back here to get me recovered again.
I have no clue what the issues were...maybe conflicting with another install...who knows.
Definitely wasn't my cup of tea.
Not willing to try this one again until I either understand a bit more or things get fixed.

Just my .02
