And I would respect him if he put it out there like Fab does --> Here's a ROM...I themed it...I added this...this...and this..........
He could be respected in the Android world for what he is...an OPTIMIZER...not a creator.

But sadly no...he's "building his ROMs from Source". Then on top of it, he accuses other people of stealing from him!!!

PETE? You gotta be shitting me? I don't know PETE well at all but he seems like a nice guy...and I haven't heard different from ANYONE except BlackDroid!

What I know is this:

I was among the first people on this forum to discuss BD's ROMs...back before he had any kind of popularity (or drama). When his ROMs started adding EVERY single thing that BB had I didn't really mind. Okay so he didn't give credit...just an oops right?

Then the AllDroid Drama (who's to know who was right or wrong at that time) Then Cyanogen bitch slapped him...that was funny cause anyone that tried his 1.0 could see that it was CM!

Then the exit speeches...how juvenile!

Now Pete is the thief and the owner of the website is stealing donations (which he got from people based on the assumption that he was "building" ROMs)? That is just plain and simple...BS! If there is always drama surrounding you...YOU are the problem!

What funny about New Era is he says it's built from source. On another forum someone said it's CyanogneMod and they were told no not at all, it's not Cyanogen, BD built it from source.

Ok now the funny part...load New Era and delete the boot animation zip from the system/media folder and data/local folder then reboot the phone and would you look at that, it's the CyanogenMod boot animation, what really, I thought it was built from source :confused:

Open source is exactly that OPEN. Take what you like package it together as you may and call it what you want. I bet if you guys did some research before you spoke you might have a different opinion. Everyone acts like five year old's that cant help but just jump on the bandwagon. Enjoy what rom suites you and if credit is all you are looking for in life call AmEx.

You are 100% correct when saying "Open source is exactly that OPEN", not debating that at all. But open source does not mean take peoples hard work copy and paste it together and then go around saying you built it from the ground up. So I guess you should do some research before you speak unless you are the type of person that would take someone else's work paste your name on it and call it your own.

I in fact am running the New Era ROM (with some of my own changes to it) but I'm not running around saying I built it from source and I do know who put all the hard work in on it. It's pretty clear when you remove the boot animation from a ROM and the original creators plays who built the ROM.

These guy's build these ROM's for us to use for free. No one is forced to donate anything for the pleasure of using one of there ROM's so I'm thinking yeah credit is a big deal and if you can't see that maybe you should set down the Android and pick up an iPhone.

I guess if you don't mind someone lying to your face your post make sense.

Yeah I don't think so guy...you need take a look at this from a right/wrong standpoint and not a 1960's "do what feels good" standpoint. He is putting a theme on a phone adding a few tweaks and then saying that ALL of it is his work...and oh yeah, please donate!

This takes away from the donations that other devs would receive because of their contributions that he doesn't acknowledge. He's STEALING other's work for the sake of getting donations!...and possibly fame (how utterly pathetic)!

If you want to run UD, no one is telling you not to...but don't be surprised if your morally gray (at best) perspective doesn't fly with most people.

Of course, legally what blackdroid is doing is fine. But morally, he's the one acting like a 5-year-old because he thinks he can take whatever he wants from people for his own personal benefit and is only looking to further himself and screw the rest of the community. So as far as "open source" goes, I guess I need to do more research than running an open source operating system and using an open source browser, productivity suite, many different games, music players, instant messaging programs, and countless other things. It sounds like you just looked up open source on Wikipedia because no self-respecting open source developer would use things without giving credit.

yeah you def got it totally twisted dude, i'm with these other dudes who quoted your post. maybe you should just drop the android phone and pick up an iphone. since you think it's alright to put your name on someone elses work and take donations from people. sounds like your one hell of a person yourself

Hey Borgey...I agree with your point of view and completely disagree with the viewpoint that stedrocklp shared.

The only thing I would say is that this forum is pretty good about not allowing personal attacks. I don't think it is fair to make a judgment call about the character of another poster just because we disagree with his/her point of view. No disrespect meant...just don't wanna see people not able to post their viewpoints like on some of the other forums. :)

I know that is a strange comment considering the title of this thread...:D

LOL.. nah I don't get into this battle as much as most. That's more like me reacting to seeing more drama in the android world..it gets annoying to hear the same BS over and over.
