Root blackdroid removed for including wares

what i dont understand is why they are popular at all?

Cause they were good ROMs! The issue was never the ROM itself. Blackdroid just copied other people's work and then claimed it as his own. Most people that used his ROMs didn't really care about the ethics involved...they just had a fast, stable, and well themed ROM that had a lot of functionality.

Bottom line, he was stealing and then claiming it as his own...collecting donations for "all the work" he put into it. Some people don't care...they just liked the end result.

After reading all this and drinking a nice glass of kangerade(green) i have to say i do not believe people should be whining about having a paid app on a rom, so be it, if you cannot get it for free on the market, there is bound to be somewhere on the internet where you can get it for free. I myself have taken advantage of many free things off the internet over the years such as the old school napster and thousands of songs, once the heat got turned on with all the suing, i stopped. As far as apps, since i moved to android, i have had no problem paying for devs work, and i have donated to many different devs, and paid for all my paid apps. But as others where saying all this drama is unnecessary, just because someone uses someones else's work and changes it up to there liking, as long as they give proper credit it should all be good right. I myself have never tried blackdroid roms, i have been to enthralled with bugless, jrummy, koush, and originally sholes/droidmod. I have never got around to using new ones yet, but maybe someday i will. We must keep in mind the reasoning behind Linux based applications, such as android, and remember what open source truly means.
On a side note, i thought froyo roms where the new hot things, im not sure what the ere25 based roms are, could anyone explain in detail? IM still loving froyo and my phone moved faster than it ever did now. I hate to see all the needless fighting, just give credit where credit is due and develop more new innovative roms and us users will support all of you devs, android is growing like crazy and i think half the people who own android phones root them so please stop the petty drama girly whiny crying.

Its a dog eat dog world, this type of stealing should prompt devs to keep creating the newest and most innovative roms to stay on top of the game and then get the most support from us kronic flashers. I mean it sucks, and you can put this in a bunch of different scenarios, but its the way open source was designed, so lets move on to some more kick butt roms for our flashing excitement. BTW, is rom manager still having black droids roms on there? IS black droid the same droid guy as ultimate droid? There are to many damn droids around here, i prefer names like pete, koush and jrummy and Fabulous!!!

Hey, I agree...let's move on. This thread was dead (maybe I was wrong about reviving a dead thread above) but brought back to life by someone looking for an update on "what happened". Most of the Blackdroid (yes, the guy that put out the Ultimate Droid ROMs) talk has stopped.

And just cause I gotta...Open source is open source...but you can't claim someone else's work as your own and then accept donations for "your" work. That won't get you put in jail...but it is not ethical and the number of forums that will no longer host blackdroid's ROMs is proof that it is not tolerated in the Android community.

I have to respect that, devs should at least be nice about it and give props. Iamrocked now. I just try and follow what the best roms are and try them till im totally satisfied, i love the froyo roms now and they will only get better with the source released, so game on, no more drama as Mary J would say.

Agreed...the Froyo ROM gauntlet has been thrown down. We now have two "true" built from source ROMs. Will be interesting to see what the Sapphire and CyanogenMod ROMs will be able to do with 2.2 out! I'm sure Mary J would be down for some of that as well! :D

It's funny how the only users that seem to care about blackdroid are all low post numbers and all four that I noticed registered in March 2010.

I'm not taking sides on this one, but aren't you supposed to give credit to people for using their work in open source?

Didn't Pete create scripts and others who used the scripts credited him?

Man... now i have mixed feelings.

Last time i started ROM exploring i just kind of hurt betrayed and ended up back in the warm arms of Bugless Beast.

I really wanna try Jrummy's Kangregade (or how ever its spelled) i love all his goodies and stuff but will i be sacrificing speed?

As for ultimate Droid it still doesn't look appealing enough to switch.

I would like to try Blackdroid as my 1st ROM. I support ALL dev of apps that I use. So if BD would contact me somehow and give me the low down on where to get his ROM would be great. I have a rooted DX running GB. Thanks!

Looking for the latest (3.3 i think?) release + changelog of UD. Been running ultimate droid since before even all the original bullshit and it's STILL the quickest rom on my phone two years and many updates later. I missed 3.3 with my thunderbolt vacation though, wheres it at?!

BlackDroid and UltimateDroid has always been nothing but unadmitted 'kang' of CM source and furthermore tons of problems. I tried some once, and found this assessment to be nothing but true.

Anyone remember the drama between Cyanogenmod and blackdroidmod?

Nuff said as far as I'm concerned.
