I use Custom Rom Creator, it decompiles and recompiles apks. As well as optomizing the png files.

There are still some errors in the smali files i will have to look at it more tomorrow. probably wrong access$ numbers YAY!!

Lol... good luck with that

I found a tool called beyond compare to compare files, it is extremely helpful with these because you can pull up folder or files and do a binary compare... do you have a zip of the cm7 system UI and related jar/apk files that it takes to make the toggles work? I could take a look and compare them to stock and see what I come up with.

I'm going to take a good look at that... the tool I found is also pretty good... it uses apk tool to decompile and recompile apks and can also generate the Java equivalent of the smali files plus it has a built in adb console... and the biggest plus is that all of this is within an eclipse like environment so it can highlight Java and smali syntax

nice!

I just use apk tool and a smali tool that compiles/decompiles with two bat files. notepad++ to edit and beyond compare to compare/edit.

I have been just using the 30 day trial for beyond compare, but I might buy it because it's been invaluable and it's 30 bucks for a license :)

OK so I was looking and it seems that the virtuous ten studio also has a compare feature

First, you guys do awesome stuff over here. Im impressed. Ok so I know im gonna get called on a dead thread, but here we go

i dont like to ask for help with stuff and managed to throw a few smali ICS type changes to a ZTE merit. figuring out different errors along the way.

So im basically using this method to add toggles to the ZTE merit. ive been at it for a loooong time and its driving me nuts. i went and pulled apart bloodawns ROM, because I used CTmod on the prevail and knew it had it.(wish i found this guide earlier, would have saved figuring out resource numbers.)

I went and changed all the resources, and $id and $layout. added all the strings and drawables and everything. went through a ton of no status bar and such.

I add this
iget-object v6, p0, Lcom/android/systemui/statusbar/StatusBarService;->mBroadcastReceiver:Landroid/content/BroadcastReceiver;

invoke-virtual {p1, v6, v2}, Landroid/content/Context;->registerReceiver(Landroid/content/BroadcastReceiver;Landroid/content/IntentFilter;)Landroid/content/Intent;

const v6, 0x7f030008

invoke-static {p1, v6, v9}, Landroid/view/View;->inflate(Landroid/content/Context;ILandroid/view/ViewGroup
;)Landroid/view/View;

move-result-object v5

check-cast v5, Lcom/lidroid/systemui/quickpanel/PowerWidget;

.local v5, qsv:Lcom/lidroid/systemui/quickpanel/PowerWidget;

invoke-virtual {v5}, Lcom/lidroid/systemui/quickpanel/PowerWidget;->setupWidget()V

invoke-virtual {v6, v5, v11}, Lcom/android/systemui/statusbar/ExpandedView;->addView(Landroid/view/View;I)V
at the end and it compiles fine, and my normal status bar layout is there intact, But i just have no widget/toggles showing up. while checking a logcat for something else, I see
I/PowerWidget -
settings up all the buttons etc.

So basically, its there and may be working, but I just cant see it. moving that piece of code around in the smali gives FC errors. If I add the additional line from this guide, FC errors.

Also thing to note, There is no /QuickSettingsView code to replace like in lidroid, and there is no /PowerWidget setup like there appears to be in the Warp.

I know its a different phone etc. but if anybody has any ideas that would be awesome. It is actually starting to drive me nuts.

EDIT-Wow. See, this thing has me so frazzled i posted in the wrong thread. I meant this for the tut by Jet is Found here - http://androidforums.com/roms-jet/597660-tutorial.html . Which is almost as old as this one. Sorry.

Nevermind. Got it working!!!! woohoo.
