Root [Boost Mobile] [DEV] Remove Throttle

I am using Warp OEM 2.51 right now. I thought this rom has throttle fix applied, but found 2 files inside Data/System/Throttle:(, so deleted them and changed permissions for Throttle folder to read only.

Would work throttlefix.zip for Warp OEM 2.51 ? (because it is not a B08c based rom).

We do not want spyware, bloatware... on our Warps!!!

Back when my ROM was B08 based, it did have the throttle fix included. Since moving to a B10G base, I didn't add it in. Honestly, I believed it to be a moot point since I thought we concluded that throttling was done on Boost's side and not ours. But if you guys would like, I can incorporate this too :-)

Incorporate :) Every Lilbit helps:D We have to continually fight the system and the man!!;)

I think its a mix of the software on the phone and the service provider... on public i get faster speeds when i tether compared to when i'm browsing on the phone...

Okay, so I just got done removing the throttle functions from the smali of services.jar and I saw one of them was named... ThrottleService$DataRecorder.smali.

Yikes

I wonder just what data is getting recorded, anyway?

No matter. It's gone now

I think that's what actually logs the data usage to a file. Doesn't matter now though, it's gone. lol

if you download the flashable in the op and replace the services.jar file with the one with in the Warp OEM 2.53 rom, it's in the system\framework\ folder, that will do the trick and add the WiFi tether capabilities just wipe cache... :)

K, I can do that:p

Just a little FYI, Boost IS Sprint. So is Virgin Mobile. They own both companies. The reason why there are two is because Boost started out as their prepaid iDEN branch and Virgin Mobile their prepaid CDMA branch.

You are right, but they were actually MVNO's reselling services before eventually being bought out. Boost was really reselling the Nextel network before Sprint bought them out. Just as Virgin was reselling the Sprint network before Sprint decided to buy them out.
I think at one point AT&T was going to resell for Sprint (this going back to the days of Cingular, which was owned by SBC and Bell South). Crazy stuff!! Remember when the original AT&T wireless network was TDMA?

I don't think you can use the services.jar from the op and expect to get the latest tethering fix to remain functioning.

This came out before the Wi-Fi tether fix came out which replaces a file in the latest services jar. Also if you have any font colour mods that are done from smali and not xml this will probably change them. If you are running CTMod this will screw up the lock screen clock as it relies on highlight fonts such are done with three fonts.

Jus sayin. For example if one were to take the services jar from woem and stick it in halo Rom it would screw up download notifications colour as his Rom does not have a black background in notifications and so on.

I don't the fix in the op takes all the variables of custom mods into account.

When the mod was created most of us had not really played with the services.jar at the time, but I have to agree with you. Custom rom users should not flash this zip at this time. If this mod is not currently incorporated in the rom you are using. You can always request that the developer of the rom you are using incorporate this feature. Please pass a thank you on to PaTTF for being the first to find and correct this issue.

I'm on N860 Didn't do the update, Has anybody successfully removed the throttle? If yes how, I've removed the files from the throttle folder still no go

There is some smali that has to be pulled out of the services.jar to permanent remove the throttle folder. DroidSmith and most of the other roms here have already have this fixed

DroidSmith is based on b10 and will work with any boost mobile warp. Flash through twrp or cmw. Wipe system data and cache first, and you will be good to go

The ota b10 update will not work since your phone is likely rooted and has a custom recovery

WI-FI Hot Spot and USB Tether work perfect.:)
