Root [Boost Mobile] [ROM] n00b (B10 based) VIII.II FULL Install 1/23/2013

Two things are different mainly:

the app is themed black and is based on aosp so it has more options in the menu.

the second and more interesting part is it allows you to send a high res picture instead of a super small one like stock..

to see what I mean, start a text message and click in the area where you type a message, hit the menu button and attach, then capture picture, take a picture and hit ok, then send. The image will be severely reduced in size if you open it from the text.

Now flash the new app and do the same thing after you reboot, the messages will be high resolution and stay high resolution.

FYI, your previous messages will be deleted so please backup if you need them!
 
Heres my update, I lost root, had to reflash, still no root, flashed easyroot.zip. That worked for me. Ad Free is working and so is root explorer. Installing more apps now. So far so good. I like this rom a lot. Need to flash the black message app also. no real problems so far besides losing root, but I fixed that. Be back later!!

how were you flashing this, through stock recovery or cwm?

I don't know how it would be any different to flash the ROM vs the EasyRoot, I made both zips and they both contain the same thing except the ROM also has the full ROM, it should do exactly the same thing as far as root goes...

Anyone else with no root after flashing?
 
I have an issue with the mms app. My photos just hang on "sending..." and never go through. Is there something i need to do with the .xml file?

You can try deleting everything in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases and reboot.
 
I have it sending now but when my wife receives my photos they are not high Res they are small and grainy looking.

Just to make sure, you just flashed the full n00b v that came out today right, the messaging app will only work with this not the pre release, also some phones down sample so it could be on her end what phone does she have?
 
So I love the way the new ROM is and runs and feels and all that But I have a recurring problem that pops up. When I use speed test.net app my speeds Are around 40 K per second but if I change the build prop back to shins from Beta three then my speeds go up to 120-150k, Any suggestions for individual edits in the build.prop file? I like the new edits for speed and video but I think I am better off leaving my 3G stock since my speeds are far higher than they are now
 
Just installed and used tb with no issues at all but my psx still wont work :( i miss my ffvii. But other than that its goin smooth havnt speed tested or anything but i like it so far
But also still cant create shortcuts to home screen but i have that app from before so i dont mind

I flashed using cwm, both times. but as of now, after running it for a while, everything seems fine Mr.B. email, all my apps, even the texting app is smooth. Havent tried to send any pics yet but everything else seems great.;)
 
Using go sms i can finaly recieve the pics havnt sent one yet. But for some reason speed test still wont work right
Edit. Got it worki. Right had to turn on the first gps selection and clear data on speed test and it ran fine
 
Tip for the sending pictures, take the picture with the phone on it's side so the picture is landscape and the quality stays higher, I will look to see if I can figure out why it does the downsizing for portrait pictures

You can check out the super phone thread by mholloway, the build prop tweaks are all from that thread... Try deleting the last three lines
