Root [Boost Mobile] Roms?

Head over to the virgin mobile forums.

They have the kt kernels working and the s3 is great with its OCed

It's been a while since i last checked the forums and what do i find?

Wicked Sensation....

Its just wow... :P thanks for posting it here!

Just a heads up for those of you running the MOAR ROM, an update is on the way. Just the thought of this ROM getting any better puts a smile on my face. As is, this ROM is unbelievable and I haven't even tried out all the mods yet! :D

It was working fine for me yesterday i was able to make phonecalls and text now i cant do either one...

What do i do to fix that? Ill call boost right now and see if i could get it activated again

Did you do a profile update? That's pretty much something you will want to do after flashing any ROM.

Try factory reset, wipe cache, dalvik, reboot and let it boot up COMPLETELY. Don't rush in and start messing with things without 1st giving it time to boot up FULLY. After it has booted up completely and you have gone through the setup process, go to settings and do a PROFILE UPDATE. You may also need to use the MMS fix. I had to do it along with most of the others. The good thing is that it looks like that only has to be done once. I flashed the MOAR ROM after running Wicked Sensations and everything was working off the git go. No piggyback, no MMS fix.... nothing. Everything was working perfectly.

Hope the factory reset and profile update solves your problem.

EDIT: You may have tower trouble too. Something to keep in mind. May not be the phone at all. You still need to do a PROFILE UPDATE though. :D

Well i guess thats where i made a mistake because i didnt do a profile update.

Well this is what happened and what i did.

Yesterday i read your post about the ROM and read more about it before downloading and flashing it.

Downloaded. Flashed. Cleared Davlik Cache.

When phone finally booted i went ahead and tested my services. And it all worked. 3G in the area, text and phonecall, did not test the MMS because i dont use it as much. Then all my data from my previous stock rom was there. So i continued to use it.

All through the night i used the wifi becuase i mostly browse play online games and use viber. Everything was working fine then.

This morning i went out again to the yard and turned off the wifi. My 3g didnt kick in at all but tested my phonecall anyway. and no go...

Tried to update prl and profile had Error Code 6..

Well thats pretty much what happend..

Called Boost and got my msl. tried to follow what was posted for MMS fix hoping it would be good to go. but still no go..

Good thing i made a backup of my previous rom and now im back to stock with my data.

Will try to flash again do a factory reset as you suggested and see what happens.... i really love the way it looks and all the customization you could do hopefully it works out next time i flash.

Thanks for the reply and good to see you in the S3 section :)

Good to see you in here too. :)

Whenever you flash a new ROM make sure you ALWAYS do a factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache. ALWAYS. Left over data can seriously mess you up.

Hope you get it up and running again. I ran mine with that ROM with no issues like you are reporting.

I agree 100% w/ Kevin. Factory reset, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik ALWAYS when changing ROMS
Even when they say it's OK to dirty flash when updating a ROM , I rarely if ever do. To big a chance you'll get lag or force closings. ;)

i did the same as lovey when i first flashed because i was used to ctmod wiping with install. but def fresh install. as we learned on the prevail all kinds of wierd things can happen when u flash over dif roms.

Well there we go i went ahead and re flashed the ROM then did a factory reset

Booted the phone and did an update profile

so far so good i have net and i was able to make a phonecall

@edit:

Well spoke too soon....

Everything was working fine it booted up net and all the other services were working until.... I restored apps and data with titanium back up and poof got the error message again

Well im resetting the phone once again this time ill just install everything one at a time lol and make a new backup

@edit2:

After reflashing the rom and updating the apps

I made a new backup for my phone

Every seems to work now but the thing is im having slight problems with the net sometimes it doesnt connect i usually have to reboot the phone then it should work

Is that the way it is?

your problem isnt the apps you restored its the data. tibu across roms doesnot play well all the time. it sucks but your data seems to be your problem. i cant see how it messes up the modem

Yeah it seems to be the data well I could live without my old data I had backed up most of it anyway.

After a while the modem seems to be working fine.

So as of this moment there are no issues with my phone :)

I'm glad Kevin caught that in your post. One thing I've learned IS NOT a good idea to do is restore data from another ROM with the apps. You'll end up with all kinds of weird things happening. Force closes, lag, freeze ups, etc.

Sometimes it's best just to install your apps one by one. It all depends on how many apps you use. I run a lot of apps so I usually use Titanium to restore mine. If I didn't, I'd be installing apps for quite awhile. Lol:D

Hope you end up getting it working.

Oh, I almost forgot. What recovery are you running? TWRP or CWM? I'm running TWRP. ;)

Thanks guys. Capn069 has been pointing me the the right direction with some good info from the start. All I've done is share what I have learned after flashing the ROMs that were recommended to me. I probably wouldn't even be running these ROMs if it wasn't for him telling me about them. ;)

For those of you running Wicked Sensations, give The MOAR ROM a try. It's bad to the bone! Wouldn't you agree Kevin?

I agree with you Biker. But on a flashing note, never, I mean never, dirty flash on this phone or you will have a bad day. I accidentally bricked mine trying to trick data into working on an aosp rom. Luckily I know how to un-brick from download mode. Titanium backup is a good tool if you know the limits of what it and this phone can do. I find it best to wipe everything, even the sd card, before I do any flashing. I've wiped before and still had stuff lingering around that caused me problems such as data loss or random aggravating FC's that the wipe would have fixed. Oh, and one more thing, anyone that feels comfortable with flashing and modding stuff should check out the morphing stuff that works on the MOAR rom. There are endless possibilities of customization on this thing. I'm blown away at how much you can trick this rom out. :D

Here it is boys, the link to an endless supply of morphing zips. Just remember, read, read, and read some more before you do anything. It's simple if you follow the directions and has very desirable results.

did you use MOAR v5.0.1

btw does it matter if i have a custom kernel when i flash. Must i revert to stock kernel first or does it not matter?

... But on a flashing note, never, I mean never, dirty flash on this phone or you will have a bad day....

as long as there is a cwm/twrp backup and an odin backup, i don't think you can permanently mess up your phone...
roms pretty much only change system and/or boot and/or modem... with them covered in odin, flash away... so what if you brick your phone, other than the 15 minutes lost to do a full odin restore plus maybe another 10 minutes to reset up the phone :D

Flashing an international ROM will brick the device

No returning

A brick wasn't a brick if you can bring it back ;)

so your saying an "international ROM" will break download mode? ewwww that blows.

I've bricked (or soft bricked) my phone probably close to a hundred times... i like exotic women, but good thing I've kept my phone from going interracial :D
