Root [Boost Mobile] [Root][Recovery]Ultimate warp drive!

tried both front and rear usb ports, also rebooted computer after drivers were installed, tried installing usb drivers when it goes to bootload screen, and nothin. also reinstalled adb too, just as a second measure. but when it recognizes the phone as an android instead of a composite ( once it goes to bootload screen, happy green android), windows cannot find drivers for it, tried to manually install, didnt help. only had the phone 3 days, love it, want to make more of it.
You might want to read up in this thread http://androidforums.com/warp-all-t...ications-problems-adb-debugging-thread-d.html . You arent the only thats had difficulty.

new update i guess, one click does not like to work on win xp at all, tried on 3 comps with win xp, nothin, install it from a comp with win 7 and it will work in one shot. want to thank Woodstock77 !!!

There arent any modded roms out for the warp yet.

Well i tried two different xp machines. Maybe that is the issue. I got vista on another, I'll try that tonight

well Xorith found a link that may help some with windows XP, it worked for me. You have to download an app called PdaNet, its used for wired tethering, anyways, install the program on your computer, tell it to reinstall the drivers for your phone. It will ask what kind of phone you have, select "others". it will also install an app on your phone. Now, atleast for me, everything went exactly as described throughout this thread. The phone will reboot, this time, windows found the drivers and installed them. Then, it wouldn't go any further, so i closed one click, rebooted my phone. tried again, and it worked perfectly. Sorry, not all that great at making a guide. Anyways heres the link for PdaNet :

thanks again Xorith for finding that!

I can try it via umm.. whatsitcalled... ooh windows xp mode on my computer

But you'll have to give me a bit, doin 1st time repo sync :p

FIVE THUMBS UP!!! This worked for me on 32 bit windows xp. Thank you for the find/post. I am a noob and this was easy and simple. Install, allow it to do its thing, then restart computer, and click the one click cwm...VOILA! verry appreciated.

Ok I have Easytether, I also have the provided USB drivers for my ZTE Warp phone via the oneclickroot section/post (the ones under "I think these are them").
So given that, wouldn't I have between both those drivers, the correct usb drivers to work on windows XP Pro 32bit?
I guess what I am puzzled about is, what does pdanet have different than the other 2 drivers I have installed do not have??
I'de think, coming from an IT/Tech background for some years, that they'd be similar if not the "same" drivers, perhaps I am mistaken, I've been wrong before. Kinda confused here.

Like i said in the previous post, it works with the pdanet tether

Like i said in the previous post, it works with the pdanet tether

That doesn't really answer any of the questions I asked.
I realize you can use pdanet, and that pdanet works, I figured out by the post, and is obvious by others posts. That part was pretty self explanatory, but that's not what I was asking. If it was I would have already downloaded pdanet, and been done with it, and not wasted yours or my time in posting.

So I refer back to my question(s) I asked "in the previous post"

Hey alpha,
I am in no way a tech whiz, but i can tell you this much. I spent almost a week fishing around the internet for the correct drivers. (and i have no internet access other then my phone, so let me just tell you, that was a pain in itself.) Anyway, as far as i could tell (judging from my add remove programs list in windows) I had the appropiate drivers installed, but for some reason when it got to the point where you manually (or some had sucess with the auto option) had to select the driver to have the phone read the computer...windows xp (32bit) just hung up for some reason. As far as i could tell, the pda program just seemed to push the driver that had already been in place, but not been used, through so that they could read eachother. As stated, i do not have internet on my computer, so i know that the program didnt download the driver from the internet somewhere... When itstalling, it informs you that it is unistalling all drivers, then reinstalls them. I really think the magic lies somewhere in the process that the app used to mount the driver back onto the computer? Just my vastly uneducated guess.

Cool deal.
I wasn't doubting your thoery or what you did or your knowledge, I just like to research and ask about things as much as possible before I delve into thing, instead of just going in head first is all.
I can see how that would be VERY frustrating, as I have been there done that before with numerous things, especially when it comes to computers :)
IE: About a week ago I decided to put on BF1942 again, just for somthing different to do, well low and behold this is a different pc, so I had issues. Somehow the onboard sound (realtek audio blech) was casueing the game to lockup within 2-5 mins of game play, somtimes just in the player selection menu.
I spent hrs upon hrs and days upon days for a full week looking on the net, googling this and that, and had come to the assumption it was perhaps the audio. I decided to disable it in my bios, and uninstall the drivers, but still yet got the lockups, even with the card disabled completely (sighs).

So finally I called a friend and asked if he had a sound card I could have, he said yeah he had an old SB audigy1 (hd and enviro sound) so I headed to soundblaster web site and grabbed the drivers, which was also a shock they even had them as old as this card is, rebooted put the card in, installed the drivers, and I am happily playing bf1942 again without any issues. All week and al the research and it was the card. Why it worked with a pci card in as apposed to not in is beyond me, but it works.

As for the pdanet drivers, maybe they are written better than the usb drivers given for the zte warp and the drivers in easytether, that's always a good possibilty.

SO finally all that I have a question. My guess would be uninstall both drivers and program (easytether) that I have now, and install pdanet and that should work for usb drivers and for tethering as well, correct?? like a 2 in 1 package deal :).

Well good news and bad news for me.
Good news is pdanet works ALOT better than easytether. It also enables usb debugging on when I plug the usb cord in.
With the oneclickroot usb drivers I had to double click the usb driver icon, listed as a drive letter in my computer area, listed it as drive F:, then I would get usb debugging. Kinda clunky but it worked :). Pdanet "autmatically" enables usb debugging when I plug the usb cord in, with no clicking of drive F:, very nice.
Last of the good news I can use usb tethering, and I did a speed test on speedtest.net and it showed my ping high, about 114, but my d/l speed was 1.4Mbps....that's about what my dsl line gets, only with a much lower ping, about 35ping. All in all not so bad really, specially over 3g, enough I can deal with it.

Bbad news is when I go to hit wifi thether, it says somthing to the effect of "This phone will be supported in later versions" ie: my phones not supported.

So not a biggy, and I haven't tried the cwm yet, but I need sleep so I will give it a shot tomorrow.

Thanks for the help and info, I am now converting iover to PDAnet, simply because it works better.

On a side note I never re-installed usb drivers. I am useing the drivers that the ZTE update tool installs instead, so I will let you know my findings later.

Sorry, i just tested the wifi, your right, it doesn't work. I normally don't use it and when i do i use wifi tether for root users beta.

yeah I have used that one which works well, but, what I was looking for is what I did with my prevail. I used it similar as a usb wifi stick, and use the phone as a wifi to connect my pc to, then I could use the house DSL internet to connect and surf the web. Wifi tethering most of them from what I've tested, do wifi tether but they use your 3g as the tether not the way I want to. It's like what a usb wifi stick or a laptop does when you use wifi on it, it uses the existing internet connection that is available around it....instead of being a hotspot. Not sure what that would be or what it would be called exactly.
I think what I am wanting to do, the ZTE Warp just won't do it, were as the prevail did do, at least from what my findings are, unless someone knows an app to do this that I haven't tried yet. I've tried numerous wifi apps, but had no luck in getting them to work. The one I liked was called tethering Widget https://market.android.com/details?...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5hY2hteXIuYW5kcm9pZC5mcm95byJd, it's simple and effective, but it doesn't work on this phone. Not sure what's different on this phone as compared to the prevail but it sure doesn't like to wifi like I wanna do.
I ended up breaking down and stop being cheap and buy a $10 usb wifi stick :).

so, i think i finally got this thing to work, but how can i confirm whether the CWM install took?

im on a windows 7, 64-bit, system, and this is what i did...

with phone connected via usb (file transfer OFF), i used an app called "Quick Boot" to restart the phone into bootloader mode, and upon doing so, windows installed the necessary driver automatically (was online at the time, so i dont know if it downloaded or came with the OS). the other drivers were already on the computer from previous use.. pdanet probably.

after the 'bootloader driver' installs, i restarted the phone, and let it boot normally (had to pull battery to restart). then i ran quick boot again, and restarted back into bootloader mode. this may be an unnecessary step... theoretically should not have to reboot phone after windows driver installs, but anyway...

after extracting the one-click script zip file (post #36), navigate to the extracted directory, with the phone still in bootloader mode and attached to the PC, double-click "Flash_CWM_recovery" windows batch file. a command prompt screen appears, and spits out some words as its working. at the end it will tell you to 'press any key to continue', and upon doing so, finishes and closes the cmd prompt window.

Done?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: Confirmed; it took!!!

to confirm, connect phone to pc via usb (file transfer OFF). go to your windows command prompt. change the directory to C: drive (type: cd c:/ and hit enter).

at the c:/ prompt, type: adb reboot recovery and hit enter. it will say something about starting daemon, and the phone will reboot into recovery mode.

its showing "CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.7"
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT 2: Alternative Confirmation

CWM install can also be confirmed without a PC, by using the Quick Boot app, and rebooting into recovery mode! the recovery mode screen will show "CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.7"

Or you can power the phone off then press and hold volume/up + power until it comes up in recovery.

Rom manager is a bad idea. The ZTE Warp is not supported by it. That app bricks more phones than your local recycling center.

I really want to thank you for this little piece of info now I know one of the last pieces of programs that is messing with me. Thank you Woodstock. im going to freeze it with titanium backup and see if it stops it from messing with me.
