so, i think i finally got this thing to work, but how can i confirm whether the CWM install took?
im on a windows 7, 64-bit, system, and this is what i did...
with phone connected via usb (file transfer OFF), i used an app called "Quick Boot" to restart the phone into bootloader mode, and upon doing so, windows installed the necessary driver automatically (was online at the time, so i dont know if it downloaded or came with the OS). the other drivers were already on the computer from previous use.. pdanet probably.
after the 'bootloader driver' installs, i restarted the phone, and let it boot normally (had to pull battery to restart). then i ran quick boot again, and restarted back into bootloader mode. this may be an unnecessary step... theoretically should not have to reboot phone after windows driver installs, but anyway...
after extracting the one-click script zip file (post #36), navigate to the extracted directory, with the phone still in bootloader mode and attached to the PC, double-click "Flash_CWM_recovery" windows batch file. a command prompt screen appears, and spits out some words as its working. at the end it will tell you to 'press any key to continue', and upon doing so, finishes and closes the cmd prompt window.
Done?

EDIT: Confirmed; it took!!!
to confirm, connect phone to pc via usb (file transfer OFF). go to your windows command prompt. change the directory to C: drive (type: cd c:/ and hit enter).
at the c:/ prompt, type: adb reboot recovery and hit enter. it will say something about starting daemon, and the phone will reboot into recovery mode.
its showing "CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.7"

EDIT 2: Alternative Confirmation
CWM install can also be confirmed without a PC, by using the Quick Boot app, and rebooting into recovery mode! the recovery mode screen will show "CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.7"
