Root [Boost Mobile] Stock B10 Deodexed

MrBobo

Android Expert
After the update to B10 that I got yesterday on my phone I thought it would be helpful to others to have a stock deodexed, rooted zip available... I couldn't resist a couple changes:

  • init.d enabled
  • flashlight ramdisk fix
  • deodexed
  • supersu
  • removed boot sound

everything else is stock, kernel system apps etc.

This zip will wipe your data and replace the system/kernel with stock, it will leave your custom recovery intact. I plan on using this to update my n00b ROM to this latest release, not because I think it's a huge breakthrough, but more to just keep my ROM up to date with what zte has released since it's not super frequent we get an update.

Instructions:
  1. Download zip
  2. Install through CWM or TWRP recovery
  3. Reboot

I didn't include the B10 baseband in that zip, if anyone wants that here is a zip for that.

Crap, uploaded wrong zip lol, updating now, link in post one

LOL! that was a good laugh.

STOCK! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Hey I just downloaded to take a look... I noticed that you did not include any of the other files that get flashed to the uncommon partitions.... updating through your b10 stock is probably safer than though ota because you can always go back... also has anyone checked to see if the new boot ramdisk has the flashlight fix that was included in our rom?... just curious.. :) Nice quick work Bobo

no, the flashlight fix was not included, I added it though as I mentioned in post one.

This zip was made by going back to stock, flashing the update, rooting with my easy root zip, making a cwm backup, dodexing that backup with the kitchen. I also zipaligned the apps with the kitchen, added init.d support and edited the ramdisk with the flashlight fix while I was in there.

I didn't include these partition updates if that's what you are referencing as I have never seen them included in a stock zip flash... I am not sure what these do even, the baseband didn't change in the settings menu even though I am pretty sure part of this touches the baseband:

I am thinking these may be what on other phones is referred to a radio update, but I don't see a difference that I can find. Usually to update the radio you need to use a different tool like odin or go back to stock, run the update then flash back to a ROM...

Anyhews, that was not the purpose of this post.

Those are radio updates as well as various other updates... not just radio.. I'm sure you heard me referencing firmware because one of those is different on the pmi n860 and prevents us from using a b08c rom without scaling issues on the cpu... one of the main reasons why using a boost rom is all glitchy on our phone... it's in the ramdisk. however in the ramdisk there is a lot a backward compatible lines in one of the .rc files( I don't remember which one...) so in short you can use a newer rom than the version on those partitions but not the other way around... Thats why I saying it's better you do it like that and not include the files... I would further say to everyone that they should update through this deodexed zip as opposed to the ota so that they can keep there orginal files and always go back glitch free.... and our stock rom has it included... right of the zte website... if you look at the back to stock rom (unroot) i made for pmi, I included them...

Can anyone tell me the big deal with this new release, B10?? I see that you think it is a huge breakthrough, just wanted to understand what we are getting....

Has anyone tested yet? I'm willing to test and provide feedback for sure.

Flashed this to try and restore my phone to some kind of normalcy.

Edit: Back to stock B10 TWRP recovery, Alien kernel.

Now we need a Rom, or just Something else all together. ICS, Jelly Bean,
Whatever.

Sticking with this setup for now, at least this deodexed form of the update doesn't have all the google stuff running in the background!!

Need a Rom or ics, period. All the B08c stuff is gingerbread, everyone else is at least 2 steps ahead of this now.
