Root [Boost Mobile] Working Flashlight Fix

AWSOME guys Thanks very much for getting this to work. I just flashed the 1st kernal on my old warp for my girlfriend and down loaded the led light app and it works great. The phone is running Warp Cream Rom by Jet.

I just flashed the oc kernel on Shinjitsu's rom and Tiny LED is working like a dream, it might just be me but my phone feels more responsive too.

What edits are you making(or pulling from pm)? The kernel image on my ROM is already modified and I'd rather add your edits than lose all of mine. Please and thank you.

Well it's the dtm Oc kernel with the pmi ramdisk pulled from my stock boot image tweaked with splash from dtm and adb at boot as well as unlock...that's about it...

Going off memory, I did a compare of this ramdisk and the one in dtms and it was literally one word that needed changing in the in it . Arthur. Rc I think that was the file... Do a search for torch, it references system system and just needs to instead say system camera... I can post a more detailed explanation tomorrow if I get time at work

Lol...I thought as much but haven't had time to compare the two yet. Was expecting there to be some difference in permissions as well

I got it, thx man.:D

There has to be more than that because i cant scale my cpu with any boot.img containing a boost ramdisk...

that was the only difference for the flashlight to work, there were other differences (not many though) in the init.rc file I think too. There were some public mobile/boost service differences, but I haven't really done a full analysis. I suspect our kernels are interchangeable but the the ramdisk is specific, at least a few files in it anyway.

but for the flaslight, the only change was to change the following:

ramdisk:
init.arthur.rc

#ZTE_TORCH_YTC_20110913 BEGIN
chown system camera /sys/class/leds/flashlight/brightness
chmod 0774 /sys/class/leds/flashlight/brightness
#ZTE_TORCH_YTC_20110913 end

originally the chown line said system system /sys/class... the pm one had the system camera /sys/class...

I reflashed this Kernel so I can use the LED flashlight again and my MMS stopped working again... I flashed back the glitch non-oc and my MMS all went thru.

Anyone else notice this, or just me?? The first time this happened, I was using NoobVI. This time I'm using Alien Rom 1.04. So, this is why I'm thinking the problem is in the kernel.

I thought it was just me, I'd been doing some other mods, but just switched to the new alien kernel and got my mms back. Sorry would have reported it earlier but thought I'd broken it myself but like I said alien kernel fixed it. I'm running a modified n00bVI.

I'm having trouble following your instructions... I was able to go to short cuts, click on activities. Did not see "close ck". I did click on settings and found something called "APNs". I clicked on this and it added to my home screen. However, nothing happened when I click on it. It opens up a blank screen.

EDIT: Also, I can't see to get into my "Location and Security" settings anymore. It keeps force closing. I've cleared cache and dalvic a few times, tried fix permissions, etc. It just won't open up. I reflashed a new kernel (Alien Beta) and now I can get in again??? Anyone having trouble getting into this setting??? Thanks!!

Ok I think there has been enough testing on this matter and quite a few bugs have come about...I think it is wise to wait for dtm to incorporate the flashlight into the boost mobile ramdisk.... anyone still running this boot image should switch back for now...

I edited DM's alien kernel ram disk for him and it has working flashlight now.

You can also download RootDim. It lets you control all of the lights and lower your backlight than it can go normally. Once you download, go to other lights, select flashlight, then select on. You can always put things back to normal by selecting system default. BTW, i heard a widget is in progress also because the current one shows on some phones and not others.
