Root [Boost Mobile] Working ROMS/MODS/KERNELS/MODEMS/ECT for the Boost S3

I love downloaded and see its a. Zip and not. Img so did you just flash it in recovery

They actually have both a tar file and a zip for the new update. I'm downloading the zip now and will flash with existing Philz recovery. Should work fine. That's the way I have installed Philz every time I've used it. :D

I agree. I just flashed the newest version and it's running fine.

The zip file IMO is the easiest way but that's just me. lol Sometimes I've had to flash between Philz and TWRP several times within a short period of time. The recovery flashable zip makes it a lot easier for me. :D:thumbup:

Bro, I love Odin. I used it all the time with my Prevail and actually enjoyed using it. There's just something about Odin. The Prevail section really had some talented guys over there too who created a lot of stuff we could use Odin with. I've used Odin to do everything from save my Prevail to changing basebands. LOL. Needless to say I was really stoked when i upgraded from my Marquee to the S3 and knew I was going to be able to use Odin again. It is definitely one of the best tools out there for sure. :D

UPDATE!!!

ADDED- MOD- Increase Over all Sound Volume AOSP ROMs 4.4.2 by Kaos to the "AOSP, CyanogenMod, and AOKP ROMs" section.

This will help you guys out who've been having trouble with low volume on some of these ROMs. :D

I ALSO PLAN ON GETTING IN HERE AND DOING SOME UPDATING AND REARRANGING OF THE THREAD. HOPEFULLY THIS WEEKEND. I'M GONNA TRY AND GET THINGS BETTER ORGANIZED FOR ALL OF YOU.

Hey guys hows it been??? I havent been to the forums a lot lately, but boost came with the S3 and im all about it!!! :-) and I have learned a great deal since my prevail and TU Ultra days!!! I must say this is one of the most difficult phones i've had to root!!!! But it didn't stop me a bit!!! B-) Anyway can someone tell me what roms are working good!!!!....and possibly where to download them..??? I looked in all things root but half of the download links for the ROMS dont seem to work??? What happened???

Yeah I remember that old prevail lol, but all the TouchWiz roms are fully functional no changing anything to get them to work

I recommend wicked sensation rom it's really close to stock with a blue color scheme and a few customizations and great ring tones

If you want a super customized rom you would be looking for Moar rom but it's less stable than wicked and has this nasty call volume bug I don't know if it got fixed because I'm on Carbon rom

As far as asop roms you'll have to check either the carbon thread on our forum or the cm 11 one because some builds are extremely Unstable but as far as Carbon the nightly form March 2nd is smooth

Here's the tedious part to get 4g you need to flash the zip in the first page titled 4g apn fix then to get mms you'll have to manually configure it to our mms apn settings using chomp sms to send and receive mms

There's a link also on the first page titled mms fix under the asop section

As far as links Idk I personally use google and search for everything myself either way if you want a tw rom just type in wicked sensation for d2spr or Moar 8.0 rom for d2spr

If your going the asop way go to Carbon rom website under downloads then d2lte and download the nightly

Side note d2lte for asop is the unified build for all the s3 d2 variants cm11 also has them

I can't give you any links though sorry man I'm lazy but the links on the first page should work they work for me

I remember the Prevail days too. Man that's an awesome section and a great group of people.

HiiiPowers summed it up nicely. I also recommend Wicked Sensations as a good TouchWiz ROM to go with. You will have to flash the MK3 modem for it to work but you can find all the information you need about the modems both in the beginning of this thread and over at XDA Sprint S3 section.

The best advice I can give you right now is to read, read, read. Make sure you know what you are doing before you attempt it. This thread is here to help. If you have any questions regarding the ROMs listed here, feel free to ask. Please make sure you have read the ROM's OP before asking questions though. The majority of the information you will need can be found there.

As far as the AOSP ROMS, Carbon and CM11 both have some great nightlies. Please keep in mind that just because they are called nightlies doesn't always mean there will be a build released everyday. Also, as HiiiPowers said, use the d2lte unified builds. You do not have to worry about removing the asserts with them. There is also a 4G fix that will be needed with AOSP. Keep that in mind. MMS cannot be used while 4G is activated. You have to switch back to 3G in order for it to work.

That being said, welcome to the S3 section. Nice to see a new member. If you choose to go with Wicked Sensations, I ran that ROM for a good while and know it pretty well. I highly recommend it as a 1st ROM and will be more than happy to help you out with any questions regarding it. :)

I just flashed Liquidsmooth and this baby is nice. I can't get over how fast it is with just the stock kernel. It's SWEET! Nothing makes me happier than trying out a new ROM that runs beautifully.

I am planning on staying with LiquidSmooth for a while, but I see that Pac-Man ROM also has some recent activity. Anyone try it yet?

Man, I am loving LiquidSmooth. This ROM deserves it's own thread.

It is going to take the rest of the weekend to go through all the options.

With Carbon on hold, this might just steal my heart.

Probably the cleanest install of any d2lte ROM yet.

Gets my vote for the coolest boot animation yet.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2630413

I'm loving it too, for sure. Check out their G+ page for the changes coming in the next couple of days, it is going to get even better!

Yep. All the Roms seem to have good G+ pages. I enjoy reading them.

The only 3 I've really checked out are the Carbon, CM11, and Dirty Unicorns Google + pages. I'll have to check out the one for Liquidsmooth. I did however check out their website and it's nice. ;)

Thanks to Unotlikeme for reminding me to post this.

The surprise I mentioned awhile back was a Dirty Unicorns test build one of the Devs have sent me to test. Guys, I'm sorry to say this but he has decided to quit messing with it since the Dirty Unicorns team is now going with the d2lte unified builds. The test build I had was running great at 1st but then started showing signs that it had a few serious bugs and really could not be used as a daily driver. Sorry that I haven't updated you guys on this and thanks again to Unotlikeme for reminding me to do so.

As many of you know, I have decided to give Liquidsmooth a try on the advice of Struckn. After seeing how nicely the ROM runs, I am sticking with it for now. For any of you looking to try a new AOSP ROM, I highly recommend giving the d2lte unified build of Liquidsmooth a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Thanks for the update Smith. You da man! :thumb:

I plan on getting in here,, hopefully this evening and rearranging things so that they are easier to locate. If not this evening then tomorrow for sure. A lot of this stuff needs to be updated. The KitKat section for sure!!! :D

If any of you have ran any ROMs not listed in this thread and know that they would make a great daily driver, please let me know so that I can get them added. This also includes any mods you think that would be helpful to others. Since I've started running some of the nightlies, I haven't been testing near as much as I used to.

Thank you for all you help and thanks for being such an awesome community!! :)

i have installed cyanogenmod 11 to my boost s3 and i LOVE it but i don't have any data connection. only wifi. i have searched everywhere to try to fix this issue and can't find a thing about it. i would REALLY hate to get rid of it but i can't have a phone that won't do anything without a wifi signal. there is no indication of 3g or 4g at all. any attempts i've made to fix it myself has caused me to lose my phone connection as well. if you could help me with this i can't even tell you how grateful i would be. otherwise i am going to flash back to the stock rom and that is so depressing.

You've got 4 options.

1st) Try another nightly. Some of the CM11 nightlies have had data issues.

2nd) Try this MMS/APN data fix by Alpineman. Make sure you follow the instructions for Boost.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29284450

3rd) Look in the AOSP CyanogenMod section of this thread. Close to the beginning of the section there is a 4G fix you can download. You can give that a try by flashing it with your recovery.

4th) Flash back to a stock based ROM and do a profile update and PRL update. Then reboot. That should reset your APN's. Then try flashing a new CM11 nightly.

ANY OF THESE COULD POSSIBLY FIX YOUR DATA.

Good luck.

thank you so much. i'm trying option one but i am not having much luck at all. i can't seem to change the app to a system app with titanium backup pro. it just says processing and then that's it. i'm new to all of this but i'm really trying to learn. i would be willing to try to flash it to a stock rom but the only one i've found is a factory one that would mean i'd have to start all over from scratch and that's a daunting prospect. i'd do it but i don't know why things would be any different when i went back to cyanogenmod 11. if you think that this would solve the data problem then maybe it's worth the work. thank you SO much! i REALLY appreciate your response and your help. i'll keep you posted on how this all ends up. thanks again!

I personally haven't had the issue you are having with any of the KitKat builds I've tried. Quite a few others in here have though. I've read where several of them had to end up flashing all the way back to stock to solve their problem. You may or may not have to do that.

Hopefully one or two of the members who've had this same issue will chime in and offer their experience and the steps they went through to solve their data issue.

Also keep in mind that some of the nightlies have had data issues. I did a little research after I read your post and found this out. If it is indeed a build issue then I would flash a Touchwiz based ROM, do a profile update, then choose a different CM nightly and flash it.

There are 2 other ROMs that I would like to suggest.... Carbon and LiquidSmooth. I've running LiquidSmooth right now and it's nice. I just started a thread for the ROM and it's nightlies. I suggest giving it a read and possibly a try.

If you like CyanogenMod then you will probably love Carbon and LiquidSmooth. They have more features too. :D

can you recommend where to find a touchwiz based rom? also, where can i find the thread you started for the liquidsmooth? i will try it if you recommend it. i'm new to this site so forgive me if this is all obvious stuff. thanks again for the quick and helpful responses. i really appreciate it!

I guess probably the easiest Touchwiz ROM to flash would be Wicked Sensations. If you do decided to stick with Wicked you may need the MMS fix. I'll give you the link to both the Wicked Sensations ROM thread and the MMS fix.

Make sure that you READ the flashing instruction in the Wicked Sensations thread because you need to be running either the MK3 or MK5 modem. The links for the modems are in the flashing instructions.
