I'm really new to this device, coming from the one sv, but was really looking forward to something missing on the list. MIUI. Been missing it since my evo 3d. Does it simply not work on this device? Or just a pain? Figured it would be on the list of working roms.
 
Why is it that so many people use the name of Jesus as a curse word. I tried to watch it but within the first 30 seconds it defamed Jesus/God 3 or 4 times... I just could not continue listening. :(

That one made me cringe too, Smith. It would be nice if it could be remade with that part reworded.

Still, the video makes a very valid point.

Foul language is sad enough, I used to have the ugliest mouth out there and I still catch myself throughout the week using it. It's hard to change but I try hard to rid it from my lips... but degrading Jesus/God I just can't take part of and when I try to let one slide by and try to shrug it off which I should not do, but when it's back to back I just can't continue....

I'm not trying to disrespect for posting it, and from the part that I saw it's point is right on, I just couldn't bring myself to watch the rest of it. Lol, even with the warning of foul language.

QUANTUM KERNEL FOR AOSP 4.4.2 ROMS.

THANKS TO STRUCKN FOR LETTING ME KNOW ABOUT THIS.

THIS IS THE QUANTUM KERNEL FOUND IN THE SLIMKAT ROM THREAD OVER IN THE SPRINT S3 SECTION ON XDA. I AM RUNNING IT RIGHT NOW AND ITS RUNNING GREAT. AS OF THIS POST, I'VE LITERALLY ONLY BEEN RUNNING IT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES SO I HAVE NO IDEA HOW IT IS ON THE BATTERY. STILL, I THOUGHT YOU GUYS NEEDED TO KNOW ABOUT IT.

THIS IS THE LINK TO THE 3/16 BUILD WHICH I AM RUNNING.

Remember backup your ROM before flashing. Then, wipe cache and Dalvik cache before the flash.

sounds good Biker! and that video awesome so true i learned way back in the og droid days when rooting was alot more than just odin or flash this. you really didnt have a choice but to learn adb and in learning adb u gain a better understanding of how your phone works and why it does some of the things it does. i have so many people come up to me being that i am the android guy in my circle of people with simple things like my face book freezes.... um force stop clear data if that doesnt work re install. and it amazes them that i got there face book working again while were in here trying to figure out kernals and apns and roms that technically shouldnt even be on our S3's lol

i learned when some one asks me what phone do u think i should get my answer is always i like android but if you just want a phone buy an iphone. lol reason being when i suggest an android phone they think that automatically means im the goto guy when they have an issue which im growing to hate.

so as i was scrolling thru my 2nd favorite android site Droid Life | An intense Android news community bringing you the latest in phones, rooting, apps, and reviews. i came across a rom called nameless rom which has a very unique feature called "on the go" which allows you to put the rom its self into a transparent mode for those who like to walk and text or do pretty much anything on the phone "on the go" heres a link i havnt tried it my self as it is an aosp rom which i am not a fan of.

they have a d2lte version of this rom.

and for any smart a** coments yes i know all i have to do is look up every few seconds to see where im going but not everyone does. lol or not so lol

So... I'm gonna try another ROM. But with all the confusion about what works, doesn't work and why... Here's the question.

Is there a fully functioning ROM available (AOSP) for the Boost S3?

By fully functional I mean:

WORKING 4G
WORKING MMS
WORKING camera

Seriously, I mean everything you really need for a daily driver.

I have been running AOSB for about a month with almost no issues until this week when I lost MMS and 4G. Instead of reflashing I'm either going to flash the new version or try another ROM - but really 4G/LTE and MMS are a must. So, please give your opinions... tell your stories... share your experiences... Enquiring minds want to know ;)
 
I'll leave this to the guys who use 4g on a daily basis. I connected to 4g for the 1st time today while I was in the city. The signal was weak but at least I had LTE lit up in my status bar. :D:thumbup:
 
^^ Haha...it was exciting for me too, to see lte on my status bar for the first time. I was on the 172 bridge in Green Bay and I remembered I couldn't wait to stop to test it out. It was truly something, that moment was.

Since I bought my Boost Galaxy s3 five months ago, I've tried a few roms and here's what I have to say about my experiences with them:

jdsingle76's Deoxeded
Good rom, everything works, except I don't like the call quality on my phone with this rom. It's bad.

Moar v8
Good rom. Many mods and features. I like the ink lockscreen and prl write option. I kept a copy of moar v8 because the prl write sticks better for my phone. I tried moar v9 also. This is a good rom with a lot. But again call quality is poor on my phone.

Carbon Kitkat Nightly
I like this rom. Call quality improved a lot from jb roms. I did love it even if the camera fc sometimes. Works great for me up to build 03/02/2014. After that I couldn't get lte to work. But I still keep a copy just incase.

Liquidsmooth current daily driver
Latest build 03/15/2004 works great for me. Call quality is nice and loud, finally! 4g lte most places in Green Bay. Camera works perfect-no force close. And MMS with "chomps msm". I also tried some of the different stuffs the guys suggested: like the lg keyboard, louder sound, v4androaid, swapping of kernels, etc. All works. This is a great rom. I like it!

Excellent post! Nice to see a member out there trying out different ROMs and reporting back on their opinion of them.
 
Thanks sG7, good info... due to time constraints (damn work) I backed up an old version of MOAR - V7 something LOL but at least things worked. While on MOAR I went ahead and updated profile... Now I'm downloading Liquid and SlimKat. At this point I am thinking with unified builds the updater script should handle apns? But probably not if coming from a Sprint rom but actually on Boost... Any experience here anyone?

RENAMED AOSP, CyanogenMod, AOKP, ROMs SECTION TO "AOSP, CyanogenMod, AOKP, OMNI and MIUI ROMs".


ADDED THE QUANTUM KERNEL TO THE "MODS, KERNELS & PRL INFORMATION" SECTION.

ADDED THE MIUI AND OMNI ROM TO THE AOSP, CyanogenMod, AOKP, and MIUI ROMs" SECTION.

OK PEOPLE. I KNOW THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ROMs, MODs OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. IT DOES HOWEVER TELL YOU WHAT TO DO IN CASE YOURS OR A FRIEND'S PHONE GETS WET. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE LIKE IT OR NOT, THIS HAPPENS A LOT.

A GREAT LINK DESCRIBING IN DETAIL WHAT TO DO IF YOUR PHONE GETS WET HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE MISC SECTION OF THIS THREAD. HOPEFULLY YOU'LL NEVER NEED IT BUT IT'S HERE IF YOU DO. :D

ADDED THE AICP (Android Ice Cold Project) ROM TO THE "AOSP, CyanogenMod, AOKP, and MIUI ROMs" SECTION.

I am testing this ROM right now and it's running great It has a ton of features which I have only touched the surface of. This ROM has all kinds of goodies built in people!! ;)

I went ahead and flashed the Quantum kernel on it with absolutely no issues. :D

The main reason I switched roms was because I had no 4g on liquid smooth after flashing one of there nightlys

So I found a different rom Omni rom

I know I'm late but I didn't see your post if you want fully functional you meaning getting 4G flash the zip on the first page under the asop section

If you lost 4g it's the ROM not the zip recently cm and even builds of liquid smooth messed up the data and asob is based off cm builds so that explains why you lost 4g only way to get it back would be to do a full reinstall of the ROM that you had 4g on flashing the zip does nothing if the ROM messed up that's why it's important to make backups

Try Omni rom I've been running it for almost a week haven't had any issues

To get mms you have to use handcent and go under the mms configuration section or whatever it's called and edit it to boost mms settings you have to I repeat have a to use mms to send and receive mms or the message will fail why I don't know and mms works over 4g 3g or wifi if you configure it and use handcent to send and receive


The Camara working is all up to how stable the ROM your running is once again Omni roms camera is fine

This is the only only way you'll get a fully functional rom no work arounds it's a few extra steps but nothing crazy remember if you flash a rom flash then flash the 4G apn fix zip and you don't have 4g don't panic it might be an rom issue you could go back to an earlier build or try another rom

On Omni rom I currently have 4g mms and no bugs but they are nightly builds so it might change that's the risk you take when running 4.4.2 roms

When you say handcent, I'm assuming, you mean any of the third party sms/mms apps. Just wanted to clarify as I haven't used it yet but plan to soon. The rom. Not necessarily the app. I'm assuming things like hangouts or evolve would work as well?
