I checked mine. It is set to WPA2 PSK with a password, and I have no problem with crashing. I have no idea if this makes any difference (I assume it doesn't since either way opens the same settings menu but who knows), but are you configuring the hotspot settings through Quick Settings or through selecting the hotspot icon in the notification bar? I tried both and they both work for me, though.Have you tried the WPA setting instead of OPEN?
Did you restart and try it again? It definitely worked for me after I created a shortcut to LG Hidden Settings and then changed the settings. I tried using Quick Settings and a controls widget to activate the hotspot, and both worked. There was one step that was a bit confusing. After you click activities, expand com.lge.hiddenmenu, and select (what is for me) the second item down, LG Hidden Menu - com.lge.hiddenmenu.LGServiceHiddenMenu_Settings. That should create a shortcut on your screen. Go into that, select data settings > DUN NAI > Extend modem = NO. Then back out of the menus and it should work, but as it says you will have to set it to NO every time you restart the phone. Hope it works for you.
Did any of you guys on VM in here jump to boost? I have the Triumph and it is a piece of crap, I'm fed up with it. I'm waiting on my 5th replacement and don't know how much more I can take. Definitely thinking about jumping over to boost tonight and get myself a Marquee.
Anyone have an excuse why I shouldn't? Besides the crap Triumph, I've been pleased with my VM service.
