are you sure its not the cable instead? within the first two weeks of having the EVO the oem cables port became loose. first i would go to sprint and just test with another cable. and if you have sprint TEP then they will replace it.

Recently my evo charging port has a short in it....i have to adjust it so it will charge. My ? is. If i take it to sprint will they replace it? Because my girl had a Treo 800W and they wouldnt replace it. This will suck if i would have to pay $100 for something i didnt do.![]()
Thats exactly what Im going thru with my Evo rite now. It will not charge. I have already ordered a replacement.Well, I will try to make this short. I wanted to do another video like I did before. This one is from before showing the problem with EVO 3 using one of the HTC Chargers. Doesn't prove my theory that the HTC Chargers are jacking up the charging ports. Below video is my problem outlining my theory.

But, we're hold up in a hotel for a few more days. So again, video above from a few weeks ago. Will make a new one soon.
3 EVOs, 4 chargers (3 HTC, and 1 Samsung).
HTC Chargers 1 & 2 work fine on HTC EVO 1 & 2.
HTC Charger 3 works, but feels VERY loose on HTC EVO 1 & 2.
HTC Chargers 1, 2, & 3 will not charge HTC EVO 3 - without fooling with it for like 10 mins - if you get it to work at all.
I go into Sprint store finally to see what I can do. I didn't have chargers on me, was a whim of the moment stop.
I'm talking to this guy that can't keep his EVO charged (he plugs it in, the charging light comes on steady, but it doesn't really charge - or something is draining his battery so fast, can't keep up).
I tell him my problem with HTC EVO 3, and go to show him.
"Ah, here's a micro USB power cable."
... I plug it in.. it snaps in nice and firm... charging light comes on right away. Huh!?
I look, it's a Samsung charger.
I unplug. Plug back in. Works great.
Ugh.
So, I leave, knowing I won't be able to prove me case without my chargers.
I get home, and plug in EVO 3 into all HTC chargers - same problem. Loose and won't take a charge. Chargers 1 & 2 still work great with EVOs 1 & 2 while Charger 3 still is very loose on all phones.
I plug in an old Samsung charger I have. It snaps in ok, only very slightly looser than the Samsung charger at the Sprint store, but it takes a charge no problem. If I move it a bit, the charge light goes out.
So, again... I really think the HTC Chargers are screwing up the ports.

So I headed over to the Sprint store yesterday to see if I could get a replacement. After getting "I've never heard of this problem", he ended up taking it apart and looking at it and came back out and said they were going to order me another one.I experienced this charging problem for the first time last Saturday when trying to charge with my *SPRINT* car charger. I really didn't think anything of it because their charger seems to take 2-3 times as long to charge as the cable that came in the box. Well anyway, last night it started happening with the home charger and this morning the thing won't charge at all, even with wiggling. I'm heading to the Sprint repair store today and hoping that they will replace it as this looks more widespread than I thought.
I have a Version: 002 and a build date on the battery cover of: DT10.04.21
They said they could get it in today, but most likely Monday. So the question I have is, what is the best way to back everything up? Is there any way to backup Texts and such without rooting?
^^^ This does not sound like the case here, with a lot of people reporting the issue.
You shouldn't assume that its abuse, because one day you could find yourself in the same boat.
You are making a HUGE assumption on the part of a lot of other people. So you send your phone to a company and they go, "Hey you abused your phone now you must pay to fix it." So it's HTC fault you didn't take care of your phone? I'm telling you people used cheap ass cables/chargers to try and save a little cash on accessories after purchasing the EVO. Well that crap has come back to haunt some folks. Or people were trying to jam their cable end into the port the wrong way. I can easily see that happening. People come to this forum looking for a sob story. I have had my EVO since day 1 and its in Afghanistan with me. What am I doing right of which everyone else is doing wrong with their EVO?
You are making a HUGE assumption on the part of a lot of other people.
I'd advise you to keep quiet unless you have PROOF that they abused their phones.
It is not unheard of to have manufacturing defects.
Just because you may have gotten a phone that had good quality assurance, does not guarantee that others did. So why be so quick to condemn other people when you have no idea of how they treat their phones? Several people here have stated they baby their phones, I have no reason to doubt them because it's highly unlikely these people are all in some sort of conspiracy to defraud Sprint / HTC or fool us.
