Root broken rooted evo

Phone was refurbished, the sprint tech at a 3rd party store broke it. Stuck a metal object in the usb port RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. Told me to come back in a hour , then says he can't do anything because it (the usb port had been disconnected from the board) which he did, because only issue prior was, i had to physically hold it to charge, now it doesn't at all. He denied it. Called sprint after 3 hours on the phone.

I am getting a BRAND NEW Evo by walking in a local store tomorrow and i am getting a HUGE credit on my account. Phone is rooted, don't know how to unroot with out usb. Should I worry because the phone is going to be only used for parts?

p.s. i would like to think the jerk off again, if you never broke it, i would just be getting another crappy refurbished phone and wouldn't have gotten that fat credit. CHa Ching.

do you have a card reader? you can install the unrevoked foerever s-on tool onto the card that way. same will go for the PC36IMG.zip file as well.

You can follow the unroot steps in the Rooting for Dummies guide except you will have to use a card reader to get the files on your sdcard rather than doing it through the data cable.

yeah that would be the issue. you can always buy a new battery.

do you know someone else with an evo that could charge your battery?

Anyone else that has an evo or a similar phone with the same battery...
Someone with a battery charger for the battery..
buy a battery charger and 'borrow' it..
or just finagle with the port and see if you can get it to charge a little.

Then, use a card reader to get the two files on the card and youll be good to go

a few people, i am supposed to go in to the store to replace the phone. Do you think the store reps are going to charge up a battery and stick it in? I was told my phone was going to be damaged out and only used for parts? Can i just play dumb?

Its up to you, you could try that. They really have already gone through the process of ordering you the new one, so its a little late on their part to catch it. They probably wont inspect it again.
But you never know.

If they didnt take a credit card number, they wont charge you.
