Help Browser very laggy after 2.0.1 update?

Rking, when using dolphin can you still hold down on a link and get it to bring up the option to open in a new tab? It doesnt do anything when i hold down on a link. When i finally let go it just puts an orange border around it. I didnt know if maybe itneeds updated for 2.0.1

yeah when i hold down a link it brings up a menu, i select 'link' and then from there i can open it in a new tab. never tried it in 2.0 though so not sure if its any different.

Thanks for the quick reply. I never tried it on 2.0 either, i just know its not working for me on 2.0.1

Quick update, i think the dolphin browser opening link in new tab is related to using home ++. I switched to stock android home screen and it worked just fine, went back to home ++ and it stopped working again. Lagginess is still just as bad either way though :(

btw there's an update for home++. i turned it off because i was getting FC's after the new update. maybe its fixed now.

Thanks, but i already have the most up to date version. I never get force closes with it, only when first turning on the phone, im sorry you are having problems with it. I shot an email to the home ++ developer about the dolphin issue.

here's a video another member made: Browser Issue with Verizon Droid 2.0.1 Update - JefTek.com

Just posting in case he doesn't happen by this thread, plus I know people here were asking for a video.

thanks for that link. I do see the issue after visiting one site he showed in the video, alldroid.org. the graphic intensive sites like engadget seem ok so i'm not sure what the cause of this is, cause the pages on alldroid are mostly text. Anyway, I would like to see it fixed as well but its not a huge huge issue for me, though I could see how it can get really annoying after a while.

hmm tested it on alldroid.org and it was indeed very laggy. even more laggy than this site. seems to me that the browser now has problems handling forums maybe? dunno why because forums are mostly text. maybe its all the different windows/box/tables that they have.

This is why I actually think it has to do with link events. Since they just fixed a bug related to link events, it makes sense too. For any large graphic or large form input field, the browser may be doing extra work to check to see if you're scrolling or clicking, which in turn causes the scroll to slow down.

has anyone tried the app killer; advanced task killer free

i use it to kill apps running in the background and it has made my droid work quicker

i use the paid one and i kill apps manually and also it automatically does it every 30 min

the phone its self is fast but this app hasnt helped the browser lag issue

ah ok

so how is everyone getting the droid update?

i havent gotten any notification saying theres an update available...

my firmware versoin still reads 2.0

I use the free one to kill manually and the paid one gets the rest every 30 minutes. You're correct, it makes the phone faster and adds to battery life.

1) Stock
2) OTA this morning
3)Almost all (75%) gets to about 10% loaded, sticks, jumps to 30%, sticks, etc etc
4) all the time
5) Can you list some problematic sites? droidforums.net, google.com, cooks.com, recipesource.com, facebook.com, cnn.com...get the idea? :-P
6) gmail (app) works fine, sms is great, phone call is okay. Showing 3g but there's no way it's 3g. Maps work too!!!
EDIT: market is IMPOSSIBLE

Whyy I love my droid! Cmon I've got to travel tomorrow this is ridonkulous! Considering going to VZW to return this...

Can I uninstall the OTA??

I found that mine didn't do anything at all in the browser while connected with wifi. Once turned off and on 3G network, everything ran smoother than ever before

Wow this is the 3rd most starred defect now. Behind only to Bluetooth dialing and contact groups.

i awoke this morning to find an update notification window...

i chose update now and thats all i needed to do

phone powered off, powered on, updated, powered off, then powered on...

everything seems the same as before honestly...and i dont recognize any lag either...

Thanks to all those that starred this by the way. We made it to the #3 Defect on Android. With a little luck I'd imagine they will be looking at this very soon :)
