Buying an unlocked note to use on tmobil

Looking to buy an unlocked n7000
And use it on tmobile I would like to now if I will get 3g speeds 4g speeds or only 2g speeds also will I need to root the phone to make it work on tmobil.

Thanks in advance to whom ever answers this
 
If I remember reading correctly they've unlocked 3G/4G, but that may just be for unlocked AT&T Notes on T-Mobile.

That's correct, you can do it with the AT&T branded version. Although, it's still not possible with the International version.
 
I think the current Note doesn't have the antenna in T-Mo's frequency for 3G data, and since this is a hardware issue, this will apply to any GN, rooted or not.

Both versions of Note have the correct hardware, it's just not enabled.
 
I did a little looking around and I.found out that a straight talk mobile simple card can be used in the n700 and in it will give you 3g. Or 3g plus on there service and it runs the same if not better than state if this is true I'm picking up this phone asap

I use my Note on Straight Talk and have really enjoyed it, you can buy a SIM here.

You definitely don't want a T-Mobile SIM, if you buy that you'll be limited to Edge and won't get 3G. You want to buy the SIM listed as "Unlocked Phone (Phone must operate in 850 and 1900 MHz bands)."

But when you go through and select unlocked sim.. It asks what type of phone it is, tmobile or att... Then size

I forgot about the second part of the process, sorry. You want to select AT&T for the Note.

I decided to get a new number, I've used several prepaid GSM carriers in the past so it was quite easy for me. Every where I typically travel I've had good coverage, but the data speeds aren't the best. (Compared with T-Mobile.) On average I will get between 1-3 mbs download speeds.

Carriers like this are simple, all it takes is buying a SIM card, popping it in, activating the SIM, input the data settings, reboot your phone, and then you're all set. I love using GSM carriers like this, it makes things extremely simple, and doesn't hurt your wallet.
 
Ok gotcha... Yeah I think straight talk blows tmobile out of the water... 45 unlimited.. Vs tmobile capped data plans

Well that's the thing... You can buy an unlocked phone or an att or tmobile phone... They will all work... The ONLY problem is that buying these phones out of contract is crazy expensive...

It's not that bad when you consider the cost you would pay being stuck in a 2 year contract. I spent $750 on each Note for my wife, and I; but since I'm using Straight Talk I still save nearly $1000 over the term of a normal contract. (Which is enough to buy another device for each of us at the end of 2012.)

Paying the larger amount upfront saves you a lot more over time with GSM carriers. Plus you always get the device you want, without all of the carrier bloatware.
