Help calander retrieval from broken phone?

Hi. My optimus v was run over by a bobcat, the.optimus has a cracked screen and slightly bent frame. But i was able to still recieve phone calls on the phone and turn it on/off. Problem is that since the screen is cracked, i cant interract with well anything on the phone.

I am.in the middle of a custody case, and had been keeping all the dates i had visitation along with notes in my phones calander. I am wondering if there is any way that i could recover those calander dates by monday morning. I know when i rooted my phone, i had been watching youtube videos.of "how to" and people had a program on there computer screens that showed there optimus v screen.in a little box, on there computer. I installed said.program, but do not remember if you were able to interact with the phones apps through this program on a home computer. If anyone can shed some insight on my dilema please let me know asap. I have 7 months of calander dates on the optimus v that i just cant guess at
 
If you are using the Google calendar and have it set to auto sync, all you would have to do is log into your gmail account on a computer. You can check your calendar, edit and add new events just like on your phone.

The standard calendar is the one that syncs with your Gmail account. Unless you disabled sync all of your calendar information should be backed up to your Gmail account.
 
Your calendar and contacts should be synced to your Google account.

If your usb port works (or perhaps even if it doesn't) you can copy off the rest of the app data with adb. I can show you how if you need to do it.
 
I just looked at the calander on my droid razr and under settings the very first option is default calander, and by default it was none. So i imagine with my optimist v it was the same, especially when i have synced my gmail and my contacts showed up on my new phone but not my calander dates.


You know what, is adb the name of that i was trying to describe. The one that while rooting, and the phone connected to a computer, you can see the phones screen on the computers screen?
 
No I've never used that. Adb is used to get a command prompt on your phone. Usually via USB but some roms allow it to be used over wifi.
 
MyPhoneExplorer by fjsoft. It allows you to see your phone screen on your computer and explore some databases like contacts and calendar. It will work via usb, but I'm not sure if you can interact w apps. I only played w/it a few minutes.

I had the xiona rom on my optimus v, i think that is what it was called. Can you please describe to me how i would go about getting my calander information from the phone using adb

You want to pull the calendar database. Something like this:

adb pull /data/data/com.android.providers.calendar/databases/calendar.db

I haven't run anything but ICS for some time so the file path might not be correct. But that's the idea.

You should be able to push this back to another phone to restore all of the calendar entries. You might need to tweak the permissions though, so note the owner/group/mode of the file before overwriting it on the new phone.

If you have adb access, you can get all of the data for all of your apps. Something like this...

adb shell "cd /data/data; tar cvf /data/local/data-backup.tar ."

The exact command will depend on your ROM and the system tools installed, but that's the basic idea. Then you copy it to your PC with:

adb pull /data/local/data/backup.tar

If you're on a unix type machine, that will be a standard tar file. If you're running windows, something like winzip or whatever should open it.

Obviously this is pretty advanced stuff. I don't know your experience level. If you're not comfortable with unix, perhaps you can find a friend who is...
 
Thanks for the info. Yeah it is pretty advanced but ive been tweaking with windows since i was 10, i should be able to pulll it off now that i have a good idea of how to get at app data, plus my family has about 3 optimus v phones in the house, so i can just look at there phones and find out the right path, granted that xiona didnt change it, but i doubt it since its the basic calander.

Note for the future. Backup all notes to google, if your not gonna have hard copy around somewhere
 
I think you mean the Harmonia ROM. Xionia is a custom recovery.

On The Optimus V the Auto Sync automatically syncs all these:

Contacts
Google Photos
Gmail
Instant Upload
Calander

Sync of Picasa Web Album is dependent on you having the app installed.

In other words: You Calendar Data will be in you Google account.
