Help Calendar not saving events

Hello all. I got sick and tired of my iPhone 4 hardware flaws so now I am a new DroidX user. I put some appointments in the calendar and they just disappear after a while. I did a search on this but didn't find any solutions.

I put the event in and saved it and exited and reloaded the calendar app to make sure it was there. I just checked a few minutes ago and it's gone. Does this have something to do with the gmail service? Am I not able to actually use the calendar app for events? On the iPhone, I could create events on Mobile Me or the phone and had no problems. Other than this 1 flaw, I really like the Droid so far.
 
Something wrong with your Droid X or the way you're using it. Calendar definitely works well on ALL of the Android devices I have used.
 
I went to Calendar, select create new event, entered all the relevant info, and tapped save. The new event showed right up on the calendar. 3 hours later it was just gone. I don't know how this could mean I am doing something wrong, but I'd love to know.

Is the calender set to sync in 'accounts & sync'?

Yes, in the Google account, Sync Contacts, Gmail, and Calendar are all checked.

I just created an appointment to January 10th, 2011 at 1:15. I clicked save and looked at January and saw it there. 15 minutes later I looked at January again and it's gone. Are you not meant to create events on the phone itself? If that's the case, I don't know why there's an option to do so. Is there something I need to be setting up on the gmail side to get the calendar to sync from the phone's calendar?
 
I have a follow up question. I cannot even add a Calendar event. For some reason it will not give me "Calendar" to sync., only email and contacts. When I try to add calendar item on my phone it tells me no calendar is synced - go to accounts and add calendar. There is no option to add calendar that I can see. Is the calendar on phone the phone app and not google app casuing the problem? What do I do?
 
mxsjw, I looked at that thread and I already had everything setup as discussed. The only thing I haven't tried is setting up another gmail account and then deleting it. That seems ludicrous that I would have to do that. My syncing is working fine if I make an event from a web browser on a computer. It's when I do it on the phone that it disappears after a short time. I did click on the mobile setup at the website and clicked on a button to send a code to my phone. That is not working. Could that be the issue?
 
I don't know how to fix your problem, but you might try the Jorte app in the market. Works better than the stock calendar and it doesn't delete any of my events. It's more customizable too. Handcent is another "gotta have" apps for text msgs.
