Well, they refused to extend anything for me, and since they also couldn't tell me when they would get any replacements, I returned it. When they tried to make me pay the $35, I reminded them that this is a known issue and that I did not feel it should be my expense when they could not provide me with a replacement. Polite, but very pointed. The manager did waive the fee. I think he could sense that I would have gone off in the store with all sorts of people listening. They already witnessed me complaining loudly whilst talking on the store's sample Incredible that I simply thought there was an issue with this phone and that it was a shame that Vzw rushed this model out without making sure it worked. Even the tech indicated that almost every new smartphone has started out with some sort of glitch and that early adopters kind of get hosed.
I preordered the EVO and will wait to see if the audio on that is any better. If it does the same thing, I will blame HTC. I was not impressed with the Eris when I had that, but I attributed it to it being a lower-end phone.
Interesting that I finally heard back from HTC yesterday from my original complaint three weeks ago via the web form. I am giving them an earful (or would it be eyeful?). We'll see what happens with that I suppose. If they could tell me they forced a patch or something, I'd be completely willing to try it again. I miss that phone!!
