Root Calling you sense-less people :p

Dr. Feelgood
Well I'm gonna give AOSP another go this weekend. Preferably gingerbread, but maybe I'll see whats new in the ICS department as well.

I want to flash MIUI, as well as the latest and greatest from our other devs. The issue for me with AOSP is that its impossible to keep up with what the most stable version of each ROM is. So I'm calling on you non-sense guys to help a fella out. :D

Anyone got recommendations? I know there's threads all over this forum about it but were kinda slow lately and I want the most up-to-date information possible.

I'm a big fan of Xplod and the 3.0 nightly was very stable for me. Good battery life and responsive.

Havent run the latest MIUI so couldn't tell ya.

hi yes i like cm 7.1 or the newest nitely 2/26/2012 they r rock solid if u flash them correctly amd i like the savagedzen 221 kernal plays well with great battery life..if u charge it all nite it stays on 100% for a couple hours if u set ...setcpu to screen off profile to 128 lo 245 hi at 100% with just a little use... alot of people say cm or aosp r hard to set up i dont c it they r vanilla and without the sense sucking up resources its by far the easiest and uses less battery...just my opinion based on my own experience with most of the roms out.have fun and stay rooted my friend.

hi yes its interesting...its another chinese port like miui is and based on cm7- gb...looks like its moving along since i last checked on the post..its fantastic how everyone comes together to help build new roms ..the team work is out standing ...wish the goverment could do the same.

I've been watching that over on XDA and to be honest I don't quite understand what it is.

Ocn, Care to help me out?:D

yep the ligux rom is pretty good. what is cool it has the aroma installer. it is quite uniquel in that it launches right in the middle of recovery. meaning as the rom loads the aroma installer is launched and you use the touch screen to install it. however, before you flash it you need to flash a custom kernel. if you are on a stock kernel then it will not work. i was on mikg3.1 with the stock kernel and it would not work so i had to flash anthrax kernel to get the aroma installer to work. once it is done you go back to the recovery screen. definitely different. also there is an update patch that you can flash to get the updates that they just did.

this rom is based off of cm7. but the design of the rom is like no other. i really like it. of course you will still need to flash the gapps file and such. i might created another thread for this rom as it deserves some attention.

I went with swypers latest miui and am really enjoying this so far. Everything seems to be working.

It's going to take some time to get everything set up as far as where I want all my apps, but we shall see

Great rom. MIUI is really cool, and when you want to try something that is different than anything else, MIUI is definitely the rom to try, given the limitless theming options.

Since I hadn't commented on this yet, my go-to AOSP roms are (in order)

1) Deck Gingerbread 1.3d
2) CM7 - most current nightly (just because a lot of tweaks have been added)
3) MIUI - swiper version.

Thanks, I really enjoyed MIUI. I used the gpsfix app in the market and got a lock instantly. After roughly 12 hours of use and restoring everything via TB I ended up restoring back to MikG just because of the sheer volume of apps I had on my homescreen. Is there a way to hide them off of there and still use the app drawer that is built in? It seemed to me the only way to remove them was the uninstall.

I know I can put them in folders, but I didnt have the time today to get everything organized into them.

I'll check out decks next.

LOL, I reading through XDA like crazy before I remembered you had it in your sig :D

you running the new 2.3.2 swiper? just curious, about to dive into it myself, been running 2.2.17 and other than the upsidedown ffc, it is a great smooth and fast rom...

Also, I noticed you listed 1.3d, which is listed as an older build on the site. Is 1.3d better than 1.3 stable?

I ran 1.3 stable for awhile with out any problems. Many do feel that 1.3d was a better build though in regards to stability. (if that makes sense?)

Yes I think it is better. Stable is built off android 2.3.7. In short, shootme (the best screen capture app) won't work and if you flash the most recent dt a2sd then the the dalvik cache has issues building after a wipe so you might have to pull the battery and time or two to get it to work. It's annoying. The stable a2sd script works ok. There just aren't any issues with 1.3d.

Well, I followed your lead seeing as how I had never tried a MIUI Rom.
It is totally different. I did get it partly set up but I am not a big folder fan. I always forget what I put in each one. I was told that with the Extended settings you get an app drawer but I couldn't figure out how to use it. It was nice with the Launcher built into it to add home screens.

I'm glad I at least got to look at it.

I was able to figure out the app drawer but that's pretty useless when everything is on the homescreen. I wish by enableing it it removed all apps from the homescreen

Ah, I thought it would. Sounds a little lame then.

I'm a very few apps on a page kind of guy. I like them to have space. I want 7 pages but it's just so I can spread them out and have a page for ones that would go together. Like one for all Apps that may want SU access or have something to do with the System settings.

I have been using CM7 Nightly KANG EVO (which is CM 7.2) for the past couple of weeks.

I have to admit, this is the smoothest and fastest version of CM7 I've ever used. I have yet to have any reboots or force closes and I'm using Tiamat's 4.1.0 sbc kernel and have been averaging about 2 days battery life with moderate use.

I'm using update-cm-7.2.0-02272012-Supersonic-signed.zip but I'm about to flash his latest update-cm-7.2.0-03062012-supersonic-signed.zip and see how good it is.

Also, I am using gapps-gb-20111216-signed.zip you can get here:

gapps-gb-20111216-signed.zip

This rom is definitely worth trying.
