As for the app closing - if your HTC is like mine, it queues up the gallery when the camera launches.

So, I think it's possible to have that problem if something is borked on your storage.

Maybe consider backing up all your internal storage, pictures, videos, music, books, etc, and then clearing it out via your settings.

If the problem goes away, it was that.

That *could* conceivably hit the video frame rate as well, but, as marctronixx has pointed out, variable frame rates (and bit rates) is a feature so it's going to happen to some extent anyway.

I don't know about all, but I do know a number of different top-end models from various makers do variable recording.
 
I've had my One (M7) since launch on Verizon and never noticed the purple haze that I'm now getting in the corners and edges of some low light shots! I know this is a common issue on the internet, but I haven't found much discussion here on PD. I bought the phone from BB, and have the coverage on it. I'm wondering if anyone here has experience dealing with this as a warranty issue? Thanks for any info!
 
Yep. It's a known issue, especially with early M7's, I'm reading. Lots of folks saying that it's a hardware issue...

The article said that it takes two images for hdr averaging - the One X series took three.

I think that the hdr mode ought to be subject to a revision update regardless of how many images are used. One expects some artifacts (artificial noise) in hdr shots but from what little I've seen, I think that they can do better here.

As with any warranty, read the fine print. If bby policy is to exchange regardless of the problem, then exchange.

If there are specific terms that determine a replacement, see if they include camera images.

I think you will have a difficult time proving the purple issue with bby if that isn't explicitly written in their warranty.

I think most people watching this thread probably exchanged their m7 early in the release of the device, rather than a year later..

My HTC One has a weird look to it when I'm taking pictures, it almost looks like tears on it. But these weird effects only happen in low light spots.
 
does anyone know if/where the camera app shows when it has a GPS coordinate lock and will include it with photos taken?

my last phone had a little symbol that would change colors when a lock was achieved, but I can't seem to notice anything on the HTC software that does so?
 
Hi, I have never seen reference to any such indication but the following is an extract from Camera - Tips and help :-

"Will my captured photos have geo-tags?

If you turned on location services in Settings, then yes, your captured photos will have geo-tags or location information. By default, photo geo-tagging is turned on.
If you don't want your photos to have geo-tags, clear the Geo-tag photos option in Camera settings."

I have location on permanently and as far as I'm aware, Lat/Long co-ordinates have always appeared in Details of any picture taken, although I have never checked the accuracy - something to bear in mind for the future!!.

I've just checked some pictures I took at home about 3 weeks ago. I put the co-ordinates into Google maps and it was within 20 metres. When I took those pictures, I wouldn't have had GPS on so the location is with reference to mobile network and possibly wifi as I usually have it on when at home - one of the camera permissions is access to "precise location (GPS and network-based)".

yea, the problem is if I have GPS on, I want it to use the more accurate GPS numbers, and if that means I have to wait for it to obtain a lock because the time from waking the phone up to taking the photo isn't long enough, then I want to know that! Also, if I have my phone in Airplane mode because I'm hiking in the woods and don't have cell signal, then if I take a photo and no GPS values are had, then no coordinates are attached to the photo.

Plus, it's such a simple thing to implement...
 
You could also have a look at My Tracks:-

It will activate GPS, indicate lock, and it has a camera button, so you could run it, take your picture and close it until your next picture shot - probably not much, if any, difference to using a camera app that indicates lock. I use it and find it works well, as I would expect considering it's a Google app.

I am new on here and would appreciate any feedback regarding this query. Would anyone be able to shed any information if there is a known issue with the HTC One date stamping the wrong date and time when a picture was taken?
I have checked the handset and the correct date and time has been set.

I don't use timestamps but I'll be happy to test mine for you. (Might not be able to post back until much later or tomorrow, I'm knee deep in a network update at the moment.)

What are you getting? Right time, wrong time zone, or just some wacky time?
 
There is no known issues with date /time stamps.

What carrier are you using?
are you rooted?
Is your phone a refurbished phone or brand new?
How long has this issue been occurring? Since day one of you owing the device? Or did you make some changes to your phone (installed/uninstalled an app, made changes to settings)?

Thanks earlymon for the offer and also to marctronixx for your response.

I am really not sure under what circumstances the issue occurs, the phone is on O2 and was purchased brand new by my daughter, she is upgrading and has offered me the HTC but has mentioned this issue, it could just be down to operator error!

She says its using the stock htc camera app on the phone.
 
Anyone else have this issue?
How do I fix it.

If I open camera app [stock] from home screen:
I can either click the camera icon to take a picture or tap screen, under either the app closes.

If I open same camera app [stock] from lock screen:
I can take as many pictures as I want and the app stays open.

Any guesses why the app closes after only one picture?
 
There was promise of a patch to rectify the problem of poor pink pictures when shooting at night, did it ever transpire? I have HTC Sense 6.0 Baseband Kernel

Has anyone had this problem and is there a cure without returning it to the manufacturers, the phone is out of warranty, obviously but still a bit of a concern.

I have a camera related question...

This just started recently, but every so often, when I go to open the camera app, I go to snap a picture, and the camera app shuts itself down.

So far, the only resolution I have found is to completely shut down the phone and the restart it.

I was just wondering if anyone else might be having this problem.

Personally I think that it has something to do with the latest update.
