Camera App for improved pictures and video

LGcamera lets you use the flash while filming yes. It also lets you adjust audio quality so when you record, as posted above, the audio sounds MUCH better than stock. Its alot more flexible basically.

Thanks for that, I only saw comparisons between the camcorder on the MIUI camera and the LG camcorder above. Just didn't know how it compared to the stock app.

Thanks a ton!

These are both great apps - thanks so much! With enough people experimenting, we'll have enough tips and tricks to turn this into the phone we always thought it could be. :)

Is this only for rooted phones? I tried to install the miui apk above and I got an error message saying it cannot parse the file. Also, where is the lg camera apk?

no root required!
the apk in the OP shld work. hmmm redownload the file, reboot your phone and try to install again. that's what i would do.
lgCamera is on the market. just download and install. it's free.

I figured it out, thanks. OI File manager would not open the apk file, so I tried Astro. That worked.

As far as the MIUI camera, it seems to produce the same quality pics as stock (which is expected since hardware is the same). There are some additional settings which are cool, but I probably will never use.

I tried LG Camcorder as well. That seems to produce choppier videos than stock.

It seems I am sticking with the stock apps.

I also just tried LG camera and it worked once but then could not find my camera. Nor could the stock app. I uninstalled it and rebooted the device and all is well again.

+1 on the lgCamera app. I took some photos last night with it and WOW what an improvement! The colors actually have some color to them - not the dull, washed out stuff that came out of the default camera!

Also, it's really nice to be able to do wide aspect photos again like I could on my HTC phones. If you liked the HTC camera, this is very much like it. Well worth the $2.

I just downloaded and installed the $1.95 version. I have noticed when touching the screen to focus that the camera makes a mechanical clicking noise it's not from the speaker it sounds like either the focus mechanism or the iris and as it does this the camera does not appear to focus smoothly but rather focuses then "snaps" back. Anyone else having the same issue? This did not and does not occur with the OEM camera program that came with the phone.

my camera always clicks when it's using one of those barcode scanner apps. I've exchanged a few that had this as the store wasn't even sure if it was normal or not but they've all had it for me. if you do a search for camera click in this forum i'm sure you'll find a few posts about it.

Yea, I came across most of those posts in the Droid section Thanks for confirming it.

So I have been on the search for a camera that can improve on the quality of our pictures and video. I have had several android phones and have always been a fan of the MIUI camera. It took some digging but I finally found a version that is compatible with our phones. Just download and install.

M-IUI-Ca-m-era_1.4.22.apk

While this is my preferred camera app, is there a version that allows us to use the front-facing camera that's compatible with the MT?

FFC before Gingerbread is a phone-specific thing - there was no standard Froyo support for it at all. As such any phone with a FFC and Froyo on it has a camera app that is VERY unlikely to work with the stock load.

However, on Gingerbread the FFC was made something that the HAL framework knows about (multiple cameras); as such there's at least SOME chance that if you plug a different camera app into the CM7 load it will work. No promises, but you at least have a crack at it. Note that I have customized the stock camera app somewhat to get the various options right, and the wrong ones can and will lock the front camera up entirely.

I will have to try MIUI Camera.. I been using LGCamera and definitely get better photos than stock. I tried ZOOM FX Camera and though the pic quality is about the same as stock. the FFC did work for me I'm running TG's CM7

Going to give this a try. Does anyone know if there are any other newer or better versions that work with a stock Triumph? I'm really hoping for a magic bullet that will give me closer to 30fps 720P recording regardless of light level.

I tested lgCamera with a lot of different video options and didn't see a difference in the results (both normal viewing and looking at the file stats).

EDIT: I installed MIUI Camera and shot a few tests, but I didn't see any improvement in video camera performance. The interface is cleaner than the stock camera, but I saw some glitches like stray lines across the screen after closing menu tabs.

I believe Flash doesn't work with this is what was intended to be said lol. Not to be the grammer guy.

This worked perfect for me! Thanks for the post and I'll confirm that the flash works in both the camera as well and the video camera (WHILE RECORDING!!!) Which is steller because I've wanted to use my flash in video mode for quite some time.:)

You correct someone's grammar, then you say, this worked PERFECT for me. It should be, it worked PERFECTLY for me!

Also, it's STELLAR, not STELLER.

You might have to go into your settings and click the "allow from unknown sources" to get it to load
