Root Camera has stopped working

First if all, hi!
My camera on my EVO 4G has stopped working altogether. I'll start it up, but it'll stay a black screen for a good 5 mins or so, then I get the FC message box. I've flashed CM7 - RC 1 (7.1.0 I think? The latest RC) with Tiamat 4.0.6-SBC. Help?

i moved your thread to the rooting section.

i would wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps.

I make sure to double-wipe dalvik and cache before each update I do any updates. Updating to RC1 was the latest step in troubleshooting I've done thus far.

yeah but as the rom installs sometimes the executable files and temp files can error. even over time those files can get corrupted. anytime my rom has an error or a glitch i would wipe the caches and the issue usually goes away.

Still no good. I've tried restoring back to a previous backup, but still not good. I've wiped Dalvik and cache twice before and after each backup and update. Any other ideas?

try re-flashing cm7 again just wipe dalvik cache and cache.

if that doesn't work wipe all

system
data
dalvik
cache

install a stock rooted rom....

it should work...each time you flash you should be getting a fresh camera apk

now do the same steps (twice) and re install cm7

My wife's 4G has the same issue!!

Both, camera and camcorder app, seems to load ( I see the white icon flash ) but then all I see is a black screen. The only way to exit out is by hitting the Home button!

I wiped everything ( system ; data ; cache ; dalvik ) and flashed Miks 2.1 + 3.0 ROM, but no dice

I'm wondering where to find the pre-GB-update Rooted Stock RUU file so I can try that.

Been looking over at XDA.. but my searching skills must suck

if you are talking about the gingerbread software version 4.22 (not 4.24) then you can get it on the http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html sticky. actually all of the stock roms gingerbread and its maintenance ota and froyo are there as well.

Ugh, I'm having the same problem!

I'm rooted (unrevoked) but running the stock rom.

Camera worked fine a couple of weeks ago and when I tried to use it today I get the same black screen.

I've been rooted for about 4 months and haven't had a problem until the last couple of weeks. First it was the lag when trying to post on message boards (dealing with it now, hit a key and WAIT), the phone doing a "soft" reset, every now and again, when I surf the net/play a game and now the camera doesn't work at all.

I don't know what to do? Guess I'm going to back up everything on my pc (last time I did that I lost most of my contact info (so much lag, it took me 6 times to spell various parts of that sentence correctly) and install a new rom...

Unless some of the experts around here can give me some ideas? I've cleaned the camera cashe and have plenty of internal memory left.

wipe dalvik cache and cache and see if that helps before doing that.

I know this is a necro, but make sure that it's seated properly. if you dropped it, it could have come loose. Pop up the red ring/lens, and then press firmly on the camera and see if it pops back into place.
