Camera Tips

Just another quick tip for us newbies who don't know, the volumer rocker is your digital zoom in camera mode. I'm sure most of you know this but I was surprised when my wife found this accidentally.

I didnt know that. Admittedly, I've taken 1 video and 14 pics with the camera so to say Im using it much is understating it. I probably should use it more as everyone raves about it

Anybody know why the video recorder isn't picking up sound well? The "record audio" option is on and I'm not covering any of the mics. And if I say something (behind the camera) while filming it sounds fine, but it's not picking up the voices of people in front of the camera very loudly at all. Even if they're close.

Do you have a sample you can put on you tube or something for us to compare

That's because the phone doesn't have a backward facing mic. It uses the mic you talk into during phone conversation as the video mic. Therefore you sound fine in the video because the mic is facing you, but it's also poined away from the action that the camera is facing. Kinda dumb really but I guess another mic would have been expensive to add on. Not to mention the lack of internal space.

If you want the best picture don't increase the ISO. The higher you go the more noise you get.

Check at the 1:50 or so mark

But I guess this should be another thread now.

Nope , here's what happens on mine. I snap a pic in portrait mode, and the review will bring this pic up a quarter of the size in portrait, but showing it in landscape? It doesn't take up the whole screen like you think a pic takin in portrait mode would? Now if I go into gallery, the pics are there in portrait? WTF...I shouldn't have to go in gallery to view a pic I took in portrait. A simple way of explaining it is while in camera mode auto rotate, or just rotating the pic doesn't work? I just stays put.

I have the same problem. With the camera activated, everything is forced into landscape mode, including reviews of pictures. Sucks that you have to exit and enter the gallery to see pics in the proper orientation.

Hit "settings" in SF camera. Tap anti shake or auto -contrast or any other;line turns blue, tap again;no check mark lights up;if I keep tapping, every once in a while, a checkmark will be enabled. Could something be loose?

This is not as much as tip as a bit of information. But the camcorder videos will be either 3GPP or MP4 based on whether you time limit the video length or not. So in recording mode, Normal gives you MP4 but Limit for MMS makes the videos 3GPP

I was taking pictures with my new Fascinate at a party yesterday. Lots of windows and daylight. I was disappointed when the photos all came out quite soft and often blurry.
I spent today trying to figure out how this could be when the camera had such solid reviews. I turned on anti-shake, auto-contrast, flash, tried different resolutions - nothing seemed to help.

It turned out I was using spot metering for most of the shots at the party (this is the mode I typically used on my HTC Incredible and it yielded great pictures). I discovered that when I changed the metering mode on the Fascinate to Matrix, everything sharpened up nicely and pictures looked clear.

Does anyone else experience this softness with spot metering?

The soft effect is less noticeable in outdoor shots and macro mode.

You could have the beauty mode select. check on the shooting mode.

How about your "adjust" do you have them stock setting at "0".
Yes. I tried a variety of adjust settings. Also made sure the glass over the lens was clean.
Matrix meeting is fine for me. I am just curious whether others are experiencing similar results (soft/blurry images) with spot metering and indoor lighting.

I've taken pics in portrait mode and like what was mentioned above, I need to go to the gallery to see the pic..... but when I upload to facebook or send as a text....all the portrait ones are on their sides as if they needed to be rotated. Any ideas as to how to fix

I turn mine off for indoor pics.

Was at a concert at house of blues. Took pic with flash and without. With flash came out dark. Without flash was perfect. Depends if you're taking pic close or far away.

I thought it was just me (which is the case most of the time) but I can't for the like of me find these settings either. I have checked the manual and I am not getting all the options the manual describes.
In camera mode, the options tab shows no Add Me, Cartoon, or Action shot.
In the settings > Camera mode I only have Outdoor visibility, Focus mode and Scene mode nothing else.
What am I missing? Or what do I need to do to see all the options the manual says I should have?
