Root Can a rooted phone be activated?

Yea. The only thing rooting does is turn the security off.but it voids your warranty. So u wont be able to get insurance on it if theybsee its rooted. But u can probably unroot just for that and re-root it after its activated. That way u can also get the insurance.

Yes it can. As long as it's on a Sense based ROM.

What about a rooted phone being deactivated by verizon if they see its rooted? Or does flashing a new rom fix that? Bttw hello android friends. Im new to this but I've been researching rooting for about 3 wks now and sounds good. I activated droid2 but I was on razr but I didn't want to brick my good phone.

Welcome to the forums!!! :D

I'm not 100% sure with a Verizon phone, I would think it will work just like Sprint. Tell you what, hold off for a hot minute and let me see of I can dig some info up. :)

well deactivating a phone does not require you unroot your phone. i have a rooted evo(by the way this is an evo root forum) that was deactivated with no issues. activating a phone that is rooted could pose some issues. it will depend on the rom you are on. not sure how it is on other phones though.

hi as for verizon yes i believe u can activate and deactate ur phone as well as suspend service for the 3 month period if u need to with no problem i have the org droid still of verizon...hope this helps

A friend of mine has moved to a new handset, but wanted to keep messing with custom ROMs on his old Sprint HTC EVO 4G as well. He was worried that he would not be able to continue to do this because it was deactivated when he got the new one. :)

I told him that I have had no issues with flashing ROMs to my old Sprint HTC Hero after it was deactivated. Have any of you ever flashed a ROM on a deactivated handset? I am just trying to reassure him that there should be no problem doing that. He seems worried that it will force him to reactivate his old handset or that he will not be able to bypass the initial setup in HTC Sense based ROMs, which seems absurd to me. :D
