Can Android 2.1 work for the Eris

Sheesh, tough crowd here. The guy may legitimately have 2.1 through no doings of his own and you basically rip off his head and call for him to be banned?!? All because his phone is now suddenly more up-to-date than yours? Seems to me that some "Know-It-All's" don't really know it all after all.

Just saw the video again and noticed it has some of the features from SenseUI that HTC showed off at MWC. I would not be surprised if that build shown off had multi-touch on the main screen again like HTC showed off.

I didn't go back and re read the first page, i never saw the proof that was posted. I would have apologized. I have never claimed to know everything about this device. All i have is some friends who work at various Verizon stores that usually know less then people on this forum. He did state that he got his Eris before it was released, meaning that it could be a HTC Dev Eris.

I'm not sure if this means anything for us, but I just checked the PCD website, and under downloads, the Eris is no longer there. Maybe they've taken it down in order to upload the update? Here's to hoping!
 
Huh, its there now. I swear it was down a few moments ago, I have no reason to lie about that.
 
Quit reading the forums for a couple weeks because my glasses were giving me headaches and look what I come back to!!!!

So what's the concensus....is this legit or what???? I'm ready for it...except that I haven't done a backup which apparently I'm going to need to do.
 
It is legit, not sure when it'll go public wide but 2.1 is out there. Start backing up your files cause its gonna hit, and hit hard.

Eventually, sure it's going to hit.

I just spent several hours calling and texting Verizon users I know from Eureka, California to Wright's Beach, North Carolina and several places in-between and not one single Verizon Eris user has received 2.1. There were a total of 56 people, not a huge data base, but enough for me, including the two thousand here at this forum with ONE *claiming* to have 2.1 in his phone now.

There were many who had received OTA Pandora and a few other updates, but that was it.

I think we've been hoaxed. That's just my opinion.

Those were the original photos the OP sent me. The photos that are now flying around all over, came from me, right here, in this thread. I did not touch them in Photoshop, and the OP sent them directly from another Verizon phone. You can read the emails if you want.

This isn't a hoax. OP claims it was an OTA update, and I believe him. All he wanted was help through out the emails, never making a huge deal about 2.1, but just how to fix his phone.

I read this whole thread, turned on my 3g and had 3 new updates. Got excited. Turned out to be pandora, visual voicemail and and handcent. was a tad disappointed. :(
