Can anyone install Gingerbread ROM on my Droid?

oh now that im rooted, i can delete apps i dont want, such as stock launcher etc right? by just deleting them normally like any other app?

get a replacement first!

^yea using launcher pro, i went to applications and tried to delete the stock launcher, but it not an option

Make sure you have a replacement launcher before you start deleting things or you'll have no home at all! Bad news there...

Instead, I would recommend Titanium Backup Paid, which allows you to "freeze" system apps so they won't take up resources but they're there if you need them. I wouldn't be so quick to delete things if I were you. I you DO, make sure you back up first THEN delete... if something messes up, you can just nandroid restore and it'll be like nothing ever happened

After installing Peter Alfonso's Gingerbread ROM as my first custom ROM last night, I enjoyed reading this thread, as I many of the same hesitations and worries, but in the end it turned out to be rather simple.

I had two apps that didn't reinstall automatically - CallTrack and CamScanner License. Neither one is visible in the Market on my newly ROMed Droid. For some dumb reason I had never backed up either one with either Astro or EStrongs. So a word of caution to anyone else about to do this - backup your apps first!

Ah, so unplugging during an SBF also doesn't brick? I knew it! I was discussing this with someone who claims that SBFs overwrite the bootloader and therefore that is one way you can brick it, but I just didn't think it could be true. Why would an SBF contain a bootloader entry?

It could potentially brick, depending on what part it is at. Maybe he just got lucky.

the only problem i encountered was that the camera is not as clear as it was before i rooted..I had a stock droid running frg83d and was my first time rooting the droid

yea, im sure for first-time rooters, reading this thread will be of great help. There are other instruction threads out there, but phone experts really helped out with noob questions in this thread!
