Root Can I install Froyo?

On Froyo/Gingerbread battery life, I am almost certain one of the enhancements of Gingerbread was better memory management and thus better battery life. I don't remember reading anything that ever said that Gingerbread would result in less battery life, if anything else, it would be almost the same. Gingerbread wasn't a monumental leap forward like it was going from Eclair to Froyo. So bottom line, a Froyo custom kernel might give you better battery life than Gingerbread simply because your phone might really like it (since, as we all know, kernels are finicky) but I don't think Froyo is inherently better when it comes to battery life.

On the subject of SBC, I am using the same stock battery that I have used since getting my original Evo in October of 2010. I have recently started keeping detailed battery stats to compare kernels and roms (because I'm anal :p) and after 40-50 minutes of screen time, I am at 60% on my battery without SBC with 2-3 hours of total awake time. Obviously this would vary if I'm listening to MP3's or streaming music over 3G, but you get the idea. Maybe someone with a newer battery could test this and see if there is any real degradation. I have used SBC a lot since owning my phone. These current numbers are for MikG running AnthraX.

Yes, your able to flash a froyo ROM, or any version of android for that matter. I use Froyo at night with BootManager to charge.

Give warm 2.2 a try. Enjoy your SBC charging :D

I've heard you mention this several times, you change roms at night for charging. How bout sending me a PM and explaining how you're doing this... would really appreciate it.

Thats the app that does it, I'll send you a PM explaining it. The thread here got a little congested

The thread isn't that bad.:p

LittrRed, Look for the posts by Eggsack. They are very informative. Probably on page 3 and 4. It's good reading regardless.
