Root [CDMA] 3D Unlock Help

hello,
as you have probably guessed im new here and am looking for some general direction as to rooting/unlocking the evo 3d. i have never tampered with android devises and have no clue where to start. my problem is as follows...

1. i have a evo 3d that has a non working usb/charger port
2. im currently using 4 batteries charged externally to use in the phone

without being able to connect the phone to a computer to root/unlock the devise, how am i to go about this?!

GOAL - "to remove bloatware and other unwanted apps from my phone to make the most out of the memory and battery life i have, not to mention all the customization ability i will have." (overclocking, battery management, task manager, ext)

I could be wrong here, but to root you need to use cmd/adb to root your 3vo which requires an active usb plug into computer. Although there could be an alternate but I don't believe so.

Hi xxknoxidexx! Unfortunately dragonslayer95 is correct. There is just no way to get the phone rooted without a USB cable. If you have insurance on your phone, you might be able to get it repaired for free at a sprint store. If you can get the usb port working again we'd be happy to help you get it rooted but without that we are unfortunately stuck.

The only possible way left to gain root is by unlocking the bootloader on your phone by obtaining an unlock code from htcdev.com. This method involves sending them a device identifier token that you need a USB cable to obtain and then they send you a code that you also need a USB cable to flash it to your phone.

Check in with sprint and see if there is anything that can be done about your usb port!
