Root [CDMA] Help rootiing?

yes, those instructions are in the link, about 10 lines down, and the drivers are in the htc sync link provided in the instructions. i suggest you reread again

you're getting the links mixed up
as i originally stated, i was talking about the topic made by EUGENE
that topic is started by WISEFIRE
2 different people, 2 different topics

but it still goes to show the confusion: you say we need Android drivers, and we were supposed to somehow know that equals HTC sync?

This is what i mean as the search for a basic tutorial from step 1 actually explaining stuff like : inside of HTC sync will give you the necessary drivers

Which link is this? the one you supplied? I think it is

Edit
They both use similar scripts and need the same things to work, the htc drivers
x64 drivers are found here:
<[SCRIPT]> update 7/9 Fre3vo Root, Su, Busybox all in one - Windows/Linux/Mac v2.4 - xda-developers

ok first off, please dont get me wrong, i appreciate your help, and anyone who tries to help with root. All i was requesting was a simple tutorial to cover ALL things needed.

With that being said, I'd like to thank user R1tooTight for helping me obtain root

Now, i'm rooted(temp of course), and have win 7 64bit, but didnt need the drivers you just pointed me a link to too. Thats what I mean by saying confusing, and wish people would just make a concise tutorial. Maybe those drivers are the same, i dunno, but those drivers unzip simply to a folder (no install) and after that doesnt say what to do with the drivers.

All i needed was, to install the HTC sync. I mean, to avoid people bricking their phones, In the tutorial, it should be clearly state that, when i install this, it'll provide you with the necessary drivers. it Should state that you dont need the SDK. it should state NOT to worry about learning ADB(which other people posted like 8 links for me to read and learn) when its all taken care of in the zip file. Its not hard to make a concise tutorial is all im saying.

The reason there is no start to finish guide is because there is no one way to root. all root options act differently. You said you wanted to root one way then displayed a diff link, so i tried to help with the link u supplied.
A root guide will all be laid out when there is a finalized version of perm root.

Thank you for your time and am glad you are rooted

see, like this
it says the prereqs
but doesnt say how or where to learn how to do these things

i just hate tutorials that come in on the middle of things

MDbandit:
I know you were frustrated, but be careful here. any and all tutorials you may find about the rooting process were created by people voluntarily. No one is under any obligation to teach you how to get adb working. wake69 and others were under no obligation to hold your hand through the process, yet he is being persistently helpful in this thread. I'm asking that you show less frustration and more patience and gratitude for any help you receive.

I ended up learning adb because back in the day when I first rooted, there were no tutorials. If you wanted root, you had to work for it. Was it necessary to know everything there is to know about adb? Not really, but my understanding of the bigger picture is much clearer for it.

It's always tempting to look for the shortcut, especially if someone has already done the hard work. Why invent the wheel? But sometimes, you have to accept that the road isn't cleared.

Now that you're rooted, why not write a clear tutorial like the one you were searching for, so that the next person can have an easier time?

ok new problem. My native wifi does work anymore. It says turning on...........then error. I uninstalled barnacle and still no dice...........

OK i just reset the phone and now native tether works. I really need to get wireless tether to work. Barnacle didnt work everytime and wifi tether never worked. How come my native wifi switch stopped working ? is that a root bug? or a problem caused by barnancle?

I got that error you speak of once, when i first installed and used barnicle. I would suggest, uninstalling barnicle. rebooting then installing wireless tether, then rerooting. let me know if this works

they are all temp root, right?

also, still have issues with barnacle, sometimes it works most of the time it doesnt. Wifi tether say my kernel is not compatible. Is there a more reliable tether option? (WITHOUT PAYING SPRINT)
