Root [CDMA] Perm rooting the Evo 3D with S-OFF

I tired for 2 days trying to get this done. I had gotten as far as s-off. I am finally with rootz yippie yahooiieeeee lets party. Bring on the custom roms

I havent read much, but I'm assuming these instructions are not Mac-user friendly lol I hope they come up with a one-click app to root my phone, like z4root and/or gingerbreak

Anyone know if an airrave will mess with the hands free activation? I am wondering if I should shut it off during the s-off procedure and basically go outside to run the exploit.
Not sure why but I have an aversion to calling Sprint, especially if they are going to track these things now.
Thanks so much everyone. Always very helpful.

You cannot hands free activate with an airrave.

How long do you guys suppose it will be before we have something on the order of the original unrevoked where we have both the s-off and s-on tool? Some may want to go back after the HTC-released unlocker. Some may want to sell. Some may be wary of service while rooted.

There is already an s-on tool

Where is that? I read through the XDA and I must be missing something. I also searched for "s-on" and "unroot" and I'm not finding it. Is it part of the tool that you download in order to root?

Ok I'm not sure what it is I am doing wrong but I have installed the fastboot drivers and I dowloaded the revolutionary file and executed but all i get in the dos prompt is waiting on device. I have usb debugging enabled, fastboot is still enabled, i have tried this with charge only option selected and disk drive option selected but i still get the same thing. Any ideas as to why it is not proceeding past the waiting for device screen? I've waited about ten minutes so I think its not an impatient issue. I am running windows 7 and downladed the appropriate file. Please help.

Interesting side effect of just doing S-OFF. I use 2-step verification for my Google accounts. After I just S-OFF, all my saved Google passwords are cleared out.

If you have sync installed get rid of it and install the HTCdriver 3.0 and it will hook up correctly if all else in your post in done.

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse, I was just giving yesterdays date a reference. Was trying to ask "If I accepted all OTAs up till today, does the root method work?".

Just replaced my 3VO (had a dead pixel) and was wondering if I should update the software to the latest via OTA before rooting or not. In order get the bug fixes and not have to use an XDA workaround.

Revolution works with 1.40 hboot which was the latest ota that I know of at least...

My phone was up to date with all OTA fixes and I rooted fine.

There was, in fact. an OTA yesterday from HTC for :

- HTC Watch
- HTC Sense 3.0 LockScreen

And, a couple of more items I can't recall right now.

I did not take the OTA [ was still on stock ROM but rooted ]
