I'm a total newb. Attempting to root my EVO 3D from the device itself. Doing this for the sole purpose of removing bloatware and overcloking. I have no chance in hell of ever getting to a computer. The steps provided in doing so are very specific and simple but It's a lot of info to filter through. Totally necessary. Just a few quick questions:
(Please think of me as a typing monkey)
How do I use astro file manager to move the reflash_package.exe to the SD card?
What is rebooting to recovery and how do I do it?
Once I've successfuly installed the file from my SD card how do I know that my phone is rooted?
If I don't care about my contacts or pictures or downloaded apps will it really be necessary to prep the phone in any way before rooting? Stock ROM backup or anything?
What is bricking the device and how do I avoid this?
If my warranty is voided when rooting the phone does that include the $9 monthly insurance that I'm paying on it?
Is there any other precautions I should take or procedures once the phone is rooted?
Thanks for all your help if anyone can. I'm having a hard time tracking down the specifics to these questions.

. The JRE is just a program that allows java applications to run.
That's how we learn. In answer to your last question, your recovery will automatically name your nandroid backup. There is no need to change the name of it.
